Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow....

It's onion planting time again!

*Bend over, stick an onion in the ground, stand up, take one step to the side* repeat 200 times!

Tomorrow have to plant another 200 onions!
And the next day until they are all planted. emoticon

*sigh* and I keep telling Ray to buy them even though I don't eat them - he just loves growing onions! Thank goodness when they are all planted, my part of the job is done!

Planting is so good (physically and psychologically speaking), good luck with your 200 onions!

P.S. The bleeding stopped and I am on track today!

Sunday, January 31, 2010

Just a P.S. to yesterday's blog - I checked with my Dad and my unorthodox solution worked and stopped the bleeding! Praise The Lord!

It is strange and almost amusing how I can handle obstacles in my own life but when it is something to do with my dad, my eating takes a left turn?! Interesting!

Yesterday I did discover something useful to me! I can eat green onions aka scallions!

I have never been able to eat an onion - I just can't get past the bite! Then later I learned I am allergic to lilies and onions are in the lily family. Hmmm.

But I took a chance and used 2 green onions in my shrimp stir-fry (tops and bulbs) and I didn't even taste them! This is good news because onions have tremendous health properties!

WooHoo and 2 thumbs up!

I think today I shall make a pot of soup!

2/1: The soup has been so good I did it again today! Great way to get in some extra veggies too!

YAY! I am so glad that your dad is OK!! That is GREAT news!!!

I love getting more veggies in using soup - my kids eat them better that way! I had no idea about the lily/onion connection! Hmm. I don't know what I would do...I use onions in EVERYTHING! emoticon

So glad your Dad is ok!!

As for onioins, see if you can start some chives outside ths spring. Mine are right near my door where I can use them all winter. They are milder in flavor then an onion, and great minced in tater salads, and used in all kinds of things where an onion is. Yep, they are in the Lily family too. emoticon

yup, I went over!

Saturday, January 30, 2010

I am human and I too had a less than optimal day.

I wanted to walk - way too cold and raw outside.

I did do 3 loads of laundry but that doesn't burn that many calories.

Then my Dad's dialysis location wouldn't stop bleeding and I just kept trying to stop it. I really hope I finally got it stopped without hurting him.

I guess it was a combination of things and I just got hungry. As I tell Ray, I have learned to feed the hunger. Tomorrow will be much better!

Love,
Linda emoticon

We all have those days, but the trick is to not let one day become days or weeks or a year of bad eating. In the past I have done that...it didn't serve me well. Now I try not to roast myself when I have had too much to eat one day, but get back on track. Bottom line for me is the idea of eating what's good so I have the energy to do what I want and be healthy...

Hope you are doing well...my prayers are with you.

That you could even think about your food intake and write about it on a day like you had says a great deal about how far your progress has taken you. Most of us, (me, at least), have had multiple days in our pasts that spun us out of control for much longer than a day, and we didn't face the problem head-on as you just did. That sounds like a good place to me.
