Through the eyes of a child.

Friday, December 11, 2009

Today LIVINGTHIN's daily status asked that we read her first blog entitled Gratitude. It included a link to watch a short 'movie' called "Learning to Dance in the Rain".

Here is the link:

www.danceintherainmovie.com/index.ht
ml

I find this appropriate with the weather changes we are all experiencing lately.

I still don't want to dance in the rain, but it is a reminder to be thankful for the weather, whether we like it or not.

Without the snows, areas suffer droughts. The cold kills off many viruses and pests. Without the rains, nothing would grow and we would all perish.

I titled this blog, Through the eyes of a child, because it reminds me of how the innocent child views the changing weather. And I can remember "balancing" as I walked the curbs of life.

It is true that it is important to remember how marvellous the world seemed when we were children. Thank you for the reminder. Sometimes I think I expect my kids to grow up fast, when I should instead think of how marvellous it is that they see the world as they do.

Thanks for this link, very nice pictures and aphorisms.
Your title is very right, and sometimes we lose our children's eyes, and forget to see the joy in everyday life.

Keep on being a emoticon whatever the weather crossing your path is!

Great walk!!! Sometimes I finish my 3 mile (5k) walk and think... I would love to do that again ~ alas it is usually getting dark by then, someone needs to be picked up or fed.... but someday i will chalk up the mileage! Too much snow today!!! (first one of the year, so I shouldn't complain).

Yay!! Good job! I only did 3.4 miles....but it was only 30 degrees out with 15 mile per hours winds! Damp cold here in Texas...so I was pleased with that!

We had a snowstorm followed by rain followed by more snow today. Not outdoor weather at all. LOL Great job on the 7+ miles!!!

It was crappy here today. All the other schools closed today except for us. They were nuts. Glad you had good weather.

Yucky! Yucky! Yucky!

Rain & cold, please go away....

Monday, December 07, 2009

I have been blessed to have been able to walk daily for most of this year. So these past few weeks have been humbling indeed.

Cathy & I simply cannot walk in the rain or in weather below 40 for various reasons.

We are champing at the bit to get out there again!

The good news is I am managing to stay pretty much within range for my calories. Sheesh, this is the flip-side of my lifestyle changes!

emoticon

**it ain't much but I managed 3 miles yesterday and 3 miles today! keeping my fingers crossed for 6 tomorrow!

I did WATP twice today because it was snowing here today. I really like to be able to do that when I don't feel like going outside. I know you are a fan off WATP too. In fact, I think reading about you doing it is what got me interested in trying it in the first place.

It's true, Linda - we really are getting into "crappy outdoor walking" season. I hope it warms up, though, so you and Cathy can take your walks! - Susan emoticon

I enjoy my outdoor walking but now it is almost out of the question. I get too cold. So I am either inside with Leslie or get to the gym.

Hugs,

Every morning I wake up and start checking the weather to see if I can run outside or if I have to go on the "dreadmill". So far, I've managed to avoid it - I've ran outside in below 20! (Love my cuddleduds). Looks like I'll get outside this morning, but tomorrow we have high winds, rain mixed with snow - think the treadmill is looking better:)

Still going to run outside when I can.

We have snow now. It gets treaturous some days when the wind blows and anything wet turns to ice. This is my world 6 months of the year. We have been blessed with a snow free month this past November so I am just bundling up , putting on the boots and getting out there. My little dog seems to love the cold weather so out we go! Welcome to the Great White North. LOL

oh yes , I so know the feeling, the days it is warm enough it rains. I am having trouble losing but am maintaining. I need the walking. I have tried a treadmill and it ends up hurting my knees. I also would swim but the darn pool here is really cold, I thought about maybe skating on it ;-) So I am looking at mall walking or maybe an inside track some where. I need and miss my walking so much. I have tried a few times doing inside RV walking but this is almost impossible with the extra things that my son brought with and also with our holiday extras. UGH...I am working on this.
Blessings, Em

I know what you mean. The hub and I like to walk outside as much as possible but these temps have us staying inside. I've been doing a lot of marching in place while watching TV. lol

...and here I thought this was going to be a blog post about protein bars, LOL!

(Which are actually rectangular in my case, but I suppose the right angles on the corners would technically make them "square" in the architectural sense... hehe)

SparkPeople has 3 poll questions they are asking us to log in and answer. Please remember to look for the comments space after you earn your sparkpoints.

Yes, each question earns sparkpoints so I think it might be better one a day? But I did all 3 at the same time and just took the points for one of the polls.

From the Post:

Hi SparkPeople!

We're working on some important new features for the New Year and we need you to answer these three short polls to help us on our mission! Please click on the links below to answer each poll question and feel free to comment as well. Thanks so much for your help!
