Aargh! Up 2 lbs!

Saturday, December 12, 2009

No, not really - just weight fluctuations.

But it did make me reevaluate my calories in vs. calories out. Until the rains stop I am at a loss for walking unless I climb on the treadmill. *sigh* So today I said, "get on tubby!"

I did 3 miles and I feel fabulous! Not fast miles, mind you, just 2.5 miles per hour, but I did it in 2 increments; 30 min and 50 min! I am going to try to get on again tonight and see if I can manage at least another 20 for an even 100. 100 minutes is half what I was doing regularly so I would be satisfied.

A body gets used to the extra calories in.

12/12 122.1
12/13 120.7

this is sooooo doable!

12/15 121.1 emoticon but I am doing ST!!

12/18 121.8 emoticon but I got my 7 mile walk today!! Going to do ST too!!
12/19 122.0 emoticon but my thighs are 1/2" smaller! Still doing ST!!
12/20 121.3 emoticon and I am doing ST!!
12/21 121.3 emoticon and I am doing ST!!

It's been really cold here, so I've been doing WATP. I got started on them because of what you had written about them. Now I've gotten my husband doing them too. They are an easy way for me to get moving when I don't feel like it.

You are anything but "tubby". emoticon

Good for you. I won't walk outside when it is cold so it is either the mall or Leslie. And right now unless you go to the mall early it gets crowded (understatement). So I stick with Leslie.

You can say that again - I mean about the body getting used to the extra calories in. I've been sick and have not been eating as much - only 2 meals a day instead of the 4 smaller meals. It made a difference, but now I am hoping that when I go back on my regular routine, things won't be more difficult. Maybe not. Have to hold good thoughts always. I have lost a couple of the lbs. I gained back from Thanksgiving.

My exercise has fallen off a good bit while being sick, but I did managed a few mins. today on my bike. Not enough to really record, but I will record it nonetheless. Some better than none - right.

Through the eyes of a child.

Friday, December 11, 2009

Today LIVINGTHIN's daily status asked that we read her first blog entitled Gratitude. It included a link to watch a short 'movie' called "Learning to Dance in the Rain".

Here is the link:

I find this appropriate with the weather changes we are all experiencing lately.

I still don't want to dance in the rain, but it is a reminder to be thankful for the weather, whether we like it or not.

Without the snows, areas suffer droughts. The cold kills off many viruses and pests. Without the rains, nothing would grow and we would all perish.

I titled this blog, Through the eyes of a child, because it reminds me of how the innocent child views the changing weather. And I can remember "balancing" as I walked the curbs of life.

It is true that it is important to remember how marvellous the world seemed when we were children. Thank you for the reminder. Sometimes I think I expect my kids to grow up fast, when I should instead think of how marvellous it is that they see the world as they do.

Thanks for this link, very nice pictures and aphorisms.
Your title is very right, and sometimes we lose our children's eyes, and forget to see the joy in everyday life.

Keep on being a emoticon whatever the weather crossing your path is!

Great walk!!! Sometimes I finish my 3 mile (5k) walk and think... I would love to do that again ~ alas it is usually getting dark by then, someone needs to be picked up or fed.... but someday i will chalk up the mileage! Too much snow today!!! (first one of the year, so I shouldn't complain).

Rain & cold, please go away....

Monday, December 07, 2009

I have been blessed to have been able to walk daily for most of this year. So these past few weeks have been humbling indeed.

Cathy & I simply cannot walk in the rain or in weather below 40 for various reasons.

We are champing at the bit to get out there again!

The good news is I am managing to stay pretty much within range for my calories. Sheesh, this is the flip-side of my lifestyle changes!

**it ain't much but I managed 3 miles yesterday and 3 miles today! keeping my fingers crossed for 6 tomorrow!

I did WATP twice today because it was snowing here today. I really like to be able to do that when I don't feel like going outside. I know you are a fan off WATP too. In fact, I think reading about you doing it is what got me interested in trying it in the first place.

Every morning I wake up and start checking the weather to see if I can run outside or if I have to go on the "dreadmill". So far, I've managed to avoid it - I've ran outside in below 20! (Love my cuddleduds). Looks like I'll get outside this morning, but tomorrow we have high winds, rain mixed with snow - think the treadmill is looking better:)

Still going to run outside when I can.

We have snow now. It gets treaturous some days when the wind blows and anything wet turns to ice. This is my world 6 months of the year. We have been blessed with a snow free month this past November so I am just bundling up , putting on the boots and getting out there. My little dog seems to love the cold weather so out we go! Welcome to the Great White North. LOL

oh yes , I so know the feeling, the days it is warm enough it rains. I am having trouble losing but am maintaining. I need the walking. I have tried a treadmill and it ends up hurting my knees. I also would swim but the darn pool here is really cold, I thought about maybe skating on it ;-) So I am looking at mall walking or maybe an inside track some where. I need and miss my walking so much. I have tried a few times doing inside RV walking but this is almost impossible with the extra things that my son brought with and also with our holiday extras. UGH...I am working on this.
Blessings, Em
