This is Stage 1 of the Spark Program.

Friday, April 17, 2009

A few people seemed surprised at "MY" idea of hanging smaller clothes on the closet door. So, I decided to post this (I used this in my Class Team) about Stage 1 of the Spark Program. Maybe some of you still haven't gone through the stages. I'm here to show you that they really do work! The only thing I didn't do was the Motivational Collage.

Ok, just in case you have missed any of your emails from SparkPeople, I am going to repeat the links for the different pages. These are all from Stage 1 of the Spark Program.

We had some really beautiful weather today so DH took a few new shots of his Trophy Wife!

These didn't fit when I found them on clearance last year but they fit me now!

Thank you SparkPeople!

Hugs y'all,
Linda

The first Blog did not appear, that is why I have a 2nd blog. Now I have comments on both blogs and do not want to lose any so I am leaving both blogs.

I know I've said this before, but your class is very fortunate to have you as a leader. As Marty said, this is good information for us old timers as well!

Oops, this ended up under the wrong blog. But you do look amazing.

I love the idea of hanging them on the door (or wall, whatever). I think when I try on my summer stuff, I'll do that with something that's too small.

You're an inspiration and you're looking great! Maaaaaahvelous, Daahling!

New Pictures!

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

The weather is finally warming up and DH took some new pictures of me.

I bought this top last year on clearance - the shorts too - and hung them on the door! Today they fit!

I would prefer my hair to be a little darker but I was given 2 boxes of Nice 'n Easy and I must say, the conditioner they give you is awesome!

Hugs y'all,
Linda

I feel so cheap...

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

I started blogging partly due to getting 1 point every day I blog. Ok, that made me feel cheap.

But today I joined FaceBook for another daily point!

emoticon Where does it end?? Will I do anything for a spark point?

Heheheheh, just wanted to share this thought and chuckle I had today when I joined FaceBook.

I know I love SparkPeople - I must if I am willing to do anything for a spark point.

Love you guys!
Linda emoticon

hehe if only Sparkpoints could be turned into $$....

I have never liked Facebook for some reasons -I resigned months ago as I didn't use it. I am already behind with my friends on Spark (see how many of your blogs I missed!), I am not a multiple site user, I must say.

What do you like so far about Facebook? Is it worth the time?

    Linda,

I sort of feel the same way. I joined Facebook a few months ago, but I just haven't gotten into it the way many others have.

I am also addicted to Spark Points, but I have to confess that I have been turned off by some people who give themselves credit for doing things that I am pretty sure they don't. Two things I refuse to do are post constantly in the game room just to rack up points (though I do post there sometimes) and also give myself credit for cardio and exercise that I haven't done. I think that defeats the purpose. I've gotten somewhat less competitive with Spark Points as I've come to realize that I will never be at the top of the list. I still like to use them for Spark Goodies, though, and I also don't want my ranking to fall too low.

It's not to say that I don't sometimes give myself the benefit of the doubt on certain things LOL.

This is what Low-Mount exercises are.

Saturday, April 11, 2009

In my last blog I mentioned Low-Mount Resistance exercises and a buddy asked me what they are. I decided to just Blog my answer.

Low-Mount Exercises can be found in the Fitness Tracker. The ones I started with are:
Low-Mount Hip Flexor with Band
Low-Mount Adduction with Band
Low-Mount Abduction with Band
Low-Mount Leg Curls with Band

This is where you anchor a resistance band or tube to the leg of heavy furniture, I am using my DH's Chest of Drawers.

Since I am there anyway, I tried to find other exercised I can do with the same band and am doing Biceps Curls & Low-Mount Reverse Flys with Band (but not on the floor - I stand and pull the band and my hand out to the side) and even Tricep Lifts with Band.

I try not to rush through the exercises and am there at least 30 minutes. If I think of more I can do, I just add it to my routine. Like my DH stands with his back to the Chest of Drawers and holding the handle of the resistance tubing he brings his arm straight out in front of him.

Any exercising is better than none. And if I can't find it in the tracker, I just add it as my own User Entered exercise.

I do not go past the point of pain. But I am trying to challenge myself a little. The time is now for me to start to seriously try to tone up some, and I am trying to give this my all. But only 3X per week since I really am working the muscles now.

To the above I have added some dumbbell exercises to balance out my routine.
Dumbbell Hammer Curls with 6.6 lbs 2X15
Dumbbell Lateral Raises with 3.3 lbs 2X15
One-Arm Tricep Extension with 6.6 lbs - can only do 6-8 per arm and I follow this with the Seated Dumbbell Triceps Extensions with the same 6.6 lbs 2X15

I add more as I feel able or have time.

Love you,
Linda

I need to get an exercise band. I also need to get some dumbells. I used to have a set and got rid of them at a low point in my life. But it'll be awhile before I can get either. Oh well.
Hope you're having a wonderful Easter.

That's great. If I recall, all this strength training is relatively new for you, right? I guess it's the logical next step now that you are so close to goal weight. I keep saying I have to work on strength training but just can't seem to do it on a regular basis. Well, it used to be like that with cardio. I'll get there.
