15 lbs down since Thanksgiving

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

Well looks like I'm now down 15lbs since Thanksgiving. I had signed up for this Maintain Don't Gain challenge at work where you didn't tried to lose, but tried to stay at your weight. The Monday after Thanksgiving I started feeling pretty crummy and left work early. Sick for a week. Well, what ever I had I didn't have much appetite for a few weeks after. I knew I had probably lost a little because of being sick, but thought Christmas would have gained it back.

At weigh in on Jan 3rd I'd lost 7lbs. So I decided I'd at least try to watch my calorie count, and horseback ride as much as possible. At that point I logged into SparkPeople after a period of absence so I could count calories. I got the flu and didn't lose any weight but it through a bit of a curve ball in there. Anyway, now I'm down just over 7lbs. 174.3 and now 159.8. Close enough for me to count as 15. I never would have thought getting sick would actually encourage me to lose weight. But there it is. emoticon

See that's the thing I was actually eating just regular stuff, no cravings for sweets. I'm pretty good at making sure I eat meals even when not hungry for whatever reason. I'm one of those people who loses appetite when stressed, so lots of practice when I have other reasons for appetite loss.

I say, Good for You! We need to encourage one another here, and though I am sorry you were sick, I am happy that you have lost that much weight! Adapting to a new lifestyle is never easy! People respond to being sick in different ways. Some people EAT, and others, don't. Keep up the good work of logging your calories and riding your horse! It is good for both YOU and the horse! emoticon

I don't believe I said that at all. I have no idea if the initial weight loss was the actual illness. I know the initial illness curbed my appetite for 3-4 weeks. This included sugar, I don't think I wanted anything sweet at all in that time period. Was I sick no, but I definitely wasn't horridly hungry either. As for the flu I didn't lose anything during that time. So the additional loss has been counting calories, not sickness. For me was the original illness part of this, yes I think so given my degraded appetite, particularly for sweet stuff.

So, your weight loss solution is illness?!?!?! (God, we need the interrobang!) Works short term but doesn't lead to a happy life LOL

Without Internet at Home For Most of the Week

Friday, January 21, 2011

Finally have free rein to be back on Spark after a week of Internet flakiness. Took the afternoon off and had them come change it out today.

Crazy neighbor is still banging on her ceiling/my floor when I go to my kitchen, I'm making stuff to eat at home more often at this point so she's just going to have to deal.

Very tired of the cold weather. I've barely gotten any exercise in. I'll be glad when it's a bit warmer so I can head out to the barn. Crossing my fingers for Sunday to be warmer.

Frustrating when the computer won't work like I expect it to. I've turned off the updates, every time MSN updates, it won't work, so I turned them off. Smiles

We have become so tech dependent it is difficult when we don't have it. I can manage better at home without it, but when it comes to work it is really difficult.

It is freezing here too. Eight degrees right now. My daughter's toes were really cold when she got done riding yesterday even though she was inside.

Good luck with your crazy neighbor. Maybe you should start dancing while you cook and give her something real to complain about.

Good Day at the Barn and Another Bout with the Downstairs Crazy

Sunday, January 09, 2011

Had a great afternoon at the barn. Spent a few hours out there and took a short ride for the first time since sinus surgery. My horse is a real packer. and behaved wonderfully.

Got home and have had two rounds of the downstairs neighbor beating on the ceiling. I'm not supposed to enter my kitchen I suppose. It should be noted this neighbor has lived under me for about 5.5-6 years and only just became a problem the last few months. It's not really her it's the 20 some daughter who lives there and suddenly has become insane over my stomping, really not stomping it's just the way walking on these floors sounds, it's pretty loud when my upstairs neighbor walks also, and there are a few creaks. Oh well all the passive aggressive notes and nastiness from her has resulted in me not feeling bad. Much less the dents the crazy girl has left in my door.

Oh, this brings back memories of living in an apartment where the stairway vibrated directly into my apt. There were days it was more tolerable than others. The worst sounds though were those coming from the upstairs bedroom - smiles

I was in love with horses ever since I can remember and you are so lucky to have one.
As fo the neighbours - wow! I had some nasty ones and they moved out. They're selling their place I guess and are renovating - and while doing so, they leave the door open and windows closed - stairwel stinky and dusty - but at least THEY're not here. Nasty bussiness some people...

Migraine

Friday, January 07, 2011

Ugh, migraine. First one I've had post surgery, it's been a month since surgery today in fact, so maybe I'm going to have a decrease in them. I haven't gone without one for this long in a while. Guessing this one is due to hormones and looming change in the weather at any rate, it made me nauseaus and sick this morning. I did feel better tonight though. I didn't get much exercise in but did do 100 crunches.

Rough Couple of Days

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

Neighbor drama, I have it. A mother and daughter live under me in my apartment and recently the daughter has decided I'm too loud and stomp. It is insane as I've lived here almost 7 years they've lived here almost as long and it's just now an issue. The daughter keeps leaving me nastygrams on my door the last one on Jan 2nd. Yet another trip to the leasing office to let them copy the new note. Did find out she'd left a nastygram for another neighbor also, so just going to ignore them.

Sometime in the night between Jan 1 and Jan 2nd my fridge stopped working they came on Monday to fix. It was a fuse or something.

Also Monday found out one of the managers at work had committed suicide. I didn't know him well but he was the brother-in-law of someone I sat beside for almost two years, was always at her cube. Always had a smile on his face. The whole situation makes me really sad and I feel bad for the people who reported to him.

Haven't been eating well but have stayed in my calorie range just too many sweets. Also have gotten some short walks in. I keep telling myself baby steps, that's how I got started before.
