Work, and it's mandatory overtime the past few weeks has been been annoying...but this...I can't even quite describe.
Let me describe the first part of last week...
Saturday was good, I spent all day at the lake on a party barge.
Sunday I got a toothache and it lasted all week I had a dentist appointment Wed and it made the pain worse of all things. This after my tooth actually broke in the night Tuesday night.
Tuesday night while I'm working some of my mandatory overtime I got a phone call at 8:30 from my sister. My sister doesn't call often and to say stuff between my parents has not been going well would be an understatement lately. But I digress...
Anyway, my sister asks what I'm doing, I tell her I'm still at work. Then I ask her what 's wrong...since during the week, a call from my sister usually can't be good. She says she thought she better call me.
Apparently, my mom received a call earlier that day about my 92 year old great-aunt not coming to the phone. So I'm thinking the worst...and that my mandatory overtime be damned...
My sister goes on to say...so my mom went to her house and the house is a wreck, looked as if it had been ransacked. Stuff thrown everywhere, kitchen table moved, chairs thrown under the table, medication strewn everywhere. The visiting nurse is there, with my great-aunt who has a large bruise on the side of her face and a knot on her head. My great-aunt can't remember what happened, but is very afraid to be in the house even with other people. Later she says oh she remembers falling.
My sister and I however think it sounds more like someone broke in, as aside from being so badly bruised there is no way she could have moved her table and chairs. My great-aunt is really frail and not getting around too quickly anymore, no way she could have moved the table. And then she got really worried about her sister being in the house up the road by herself. But nothing was taken either, though the police did come and take pictures of everything.
My great-aunt is had a catscan or MRI on Monday to see if perhaps she had a stroke which would account for the memory. But I somehow doubt a stroke would have led to two ransacked rooms. Still no word on the catscan and I talked to my mom last night.
It completely angers me to think that people can do that kind of crap to little old men and women who can't defend themselves though.
