So hectic...

Friday, April 25, 2008

So the last week or so at work has been very hectic for me, I'm on one special project, working in a backfill for a person who left and had a new duty added to my regular job. It's sort of gotten to me and I have just sort of drug myself home in the evenings and sat around. I even broke down and bought the peanut M&Ms I was craving one day this week. I guess I should be happy that I haven't done what I normally do when I'm stressed and not eat. Well, actually a couple of the days this week I've struggled to make the lower end of my calorie goals. Oh well, I'll get through this and get myself back on track!

Sounds like you're doing great even though your life has been a little hectic lately. I think it's perfectly fine to have m&m's! I agree with Kelly we should have treats we just need to track them!!!

You did a great job all week under a lot of pressure. You also did a great thing by blogging about it...letting your sparkfriends know about what has been going on. As for the peanut m&ms, no harm was done to your progress. It might be a good idea to put them into your plan here and there so you don't crave them--that way they are planned for and you can enjoy them fully without feeling deprived. I hope your work week improves next week!! You are doing so well--keep on sparkin'!!! emoticon

Busy busy

Sunday, April 13, 2008

It's been very busy for me at work. I've been learning a new job which I've currently applied to and am now in the process of being interviewed for. I've also been given a new project to create training for our group. Not to mention the interview itself which is going to take up a large chunk of my time today. I did take an extra day off this weekend, I'd been hoping to get more rest than I have gotten, but it's been a good weekend so far.

Friday night I went to watch the minor league team here, it was lots of fun with fireworks after the game. There was also the long trek to and from the car which was an extra bit of exercise.

Saturday I got up early and went walking with Byzbee. That was fun and we got in a little over an hour of walking. After leaving there, I decided to drive to the Bluebonnet Festival, it was about an half an hour away but it was really fun plus I got in more walking.

Today I'm tired and have to work on my interview projects but hopefully I'll find some time to exercise, though perhaps I'll let myself rest today. Hmm...have to wait and see.

Down week

Wednesday, April 02, 2008

So this week has been a bummer thus far. First off I spent the weekend with my parents and sister...which meant a lot of eating out. Out of three days I managed to stay in calorie range one day but went over the other two days. Something about a slice of chocolate pie and homemade ice cream that I just couldn't resist. Now my ankle has been sore since I returned I guess that 4 hours one way in the car fatigued it or something. Yesterday I put on my ankle brace which helped a little bit. Tonight I walked for 10 minutes and may do so again in a bit. Also did the calf raises which are one of the things my doctor recommended to strengthen my ankle. At least I managed to still drop half a lb after my weekend.

for when you have issue with you legs, and feet. try the sparks fitness demo's to see how you can use the other parts of your body to excerise. 1/2 pound down is down in my book!!! it wasn't a hold, nor a gain. so you're good~!

You know i always say this, and its a word i hate but really am starting to understand. Patience...we are learning to eat again really, it did not happen over night to get to where we are, and it will not be overnight success. But there is success! Okay so you couldn't resist the pie, you are human, and there will be a point where you can resist it, if you expect perfection, you'll have alot of disappointment. It certainly is difficult with extra family around, and now an injury to deal with, its down right frustrating, but you even managed to be down a pound, how AWESOME is that, so just focus on the lil successes, you did great. Tomorrows a new day..

Positive week!

Saturday, March 22, 2008

What a crazy week. It's definitely had it's ups and downs. I had a root canal on Tuesday after which I didn't really want to eat for a couple of days. Wed I pretty much had a drinkable diet, gotta love smoothies for their ability to provide calories and the ability to add protein. I actually managed to make calories for those two days. I think that's the difference between my not feeling like eating this week and still getting my calories versus last week when I was sick didn't eat close to calories for two days and gained .2 lbs. This week I lost a full pound.

Wed at work we got cholesterol/glucose blood pressure checks. Mine were all in range and I got proof that a change of diet does have an effect on this. Two years ago after having my gall bladder removed and the results showing that it was lined with cholesterol I modified my diet to have mostly whole wheat breads and pastas and to have more salads and fruits and veggies and also to have less fried or highly greasy foods. At that time my cholesterol was not over the upper limit of normal but it was in the high range. Wed on the other hand my cholesterol was 146, it was down approximately 40 pts from 2 years ago. I was so impressed as I have not completely eliminated the greasy foods, just eat them far less. I'm a fiend for fried foods, burgers, and mexican food. This just goes to show that I made the right decision.

My glucose was also good 87 and my blood pressure always hovers around the low portion of normal

I truly believe continuing to improve my diet and adding exercise will only continue to improve my health. I opted to be called by our fitness department at work to be scheduled for a physical and full blood work and I'm actually interested in what those will show.

This week...

Saturday, March 15, 2008

This week has been a bit of a bummer after being sick during the early part of the week during which time I barely ate. In fact I had less than 600 calories for those two days and slept quite a bit.

I then ate out two other nights which I'm sure didn't help.

Exercise wise, I walked one night then limited myself to brief exercising in my living room which consisted of dancing around, oh well at least it got the heart rate up. I guess being sick has just worn me out a bit. Regardless it's a bit of a bummer.
