Trail ride

Saturday, November 16, 2013

First trail ride in a while, lots of new people and Cochise had to play drag. He always does great on the trail but did better than I'd have ever hoped when a younger horse got anxious and after watching for a moment, we just walked up to him while everyone else was backing away and he calmed right down and followed us where he needed to go.

Love that the trees in the distance were starting to change. Riding in Oatmeal is so beautiful! Ready to ride again tomorrow.

Glad Cochise did so well! I'll bet the rider on the young horse was grateful! We drove out to DeLeon yesterday and all the changing colors were so beautiful! By the way, what and where is Oatmeal? LOL! emoticon

Great weekend with the pony

Sunday, November 10, 2013

So Diamond went out to the pasture to grow up a little more for a couple of months. I spent this weekend working with Cochise. We're going to try and hit up the Versatility show in January it looks like this one may have a novice walk trot class. This weekend pony and I worked on patterns and got an extra hour of riding time in total. The barn owner/trainer helped and we've determined that he's dropping his shoulder to the left even at the trot. Needless to say we have to fix this and get it solid before going back to loping again.

Overall great weekend, lots of pony time and wonderful weather.

Good luck with the training. My daughter has been having trouble with her horse doing flying lead changes on the rail when he isn't suppose to.

Sounds like you got a lot of riding in! I have missed hearing from you lately! Since I talked to you last, I have given up my Lexi to a 20 year old girl whose lifetime dream was to own her own horse. Now, she has Lexi and has the time and patience (and energy) to work with her! Just today, I was given a very well broke 6 yr. old QH gelding by a friend of ours who couldn't afford to pay his board any more. I have ridden him at the shows for her to warm him up and he can be ridden bridleless with just a rein around his neck. Besides being so well broke, I like him because he is only about 14 hands high, if that! Just my size! We also just sold our house and are moving out west of Stephenville, to our land in DeLeon. So exciting! emoticon

Busy Busy Busy

Saturday, June 22, 2013

I've been insanely busy the last 6 weeks or so. Promise I haven't completely disappeared just a lot of travel and no logging of much. I should be home more now. Some of the things I've done in the last 6 weeks.

Ranch Rodeo and Cowboy Heritage in Abilene
A week in the desert in Arizona with the pony working with a trainer.
Visit to the parents
Most of this past week in California for work.

I hope to post more about my Arizona trip and maybe some pictures soon!

Evening riding

Friday, April 12, 2013

I sure am loving spring time, this week I've gotten in two horseback rides after work. Pony is riding really nice too, and I've discovered he has an even slower jog than the speed that has been his slow.

He's also really improved his backing up. Now working on learning to sidepass and more loping. Our second little ranch horse show is next Sat, not really ready I think but still looking forward to it. With luck I'll be able to ride Monday, Thursday and Friday next week and of course this weekend!

Sounds GREAT!!! I know that the riding three times a week will really help your horse to improve in his gaits and tasks. It is the consistency that counts and you are getting that, now. Good luck at the small little show! They are fun, aren't they?

Awesome. Good luck with the show. We are still stuck riding inside. The snow is gone finally but the weather is still cold and we have had constant rain. My daughter has a gymkhana clinic Sunday which should be good. Our shows start in May.

Blog Posts and Me

Thursday, April 04, 2013

I have been in sort of a lack of motivation slump since some rather snarky remarks on the last blog I wrote. I think partly because of the snarkiness and then the time change did not help. I finally woke up this morning feeling a bit more alive. So I'm hoping that helps my motivation.

I also decided that if that blog post comment bothered me so much I was going to say something to the commenter, even if it meant I have to deal with more of them. I think they need to know, particularly since they seem to have positive posts to blogs in general.

When leaving blog posts we should all try and not say things which can be discouraging to others. We really don't know how much or little motivation anyone else may have. But many people are here because they struggle without the support provided by this site.

I have to agree with JennJo322. There is always someone out there who may want to say something nasty, no matter the reason. If they do, then it shows a gap in THEIR personality, and should by no means be a reflection on YOU! They are airing their own dirty laundry and it is THEIR problem!

Take it with a grain of salt and don't let it bother you! If you let it eat away at you, you are giving that person POWER over you, and they don't deserve that!

Keep on being your own sweet self! We (your true friends) are here for you!

There's always one in every bunch..just don't let the turkeys's get you down. Put it in your mind that you choose to make that comment irrelevant and keep on keeping on!
