For some reason, I felt as though I started walking on Wednesday, but anyway it's been 4 or 5 days now, and I haven't missed a day!

I've started with about 2.6 miles. The trail I walk at is 1 mile long, with a 1/3 mile extra loop. So I've been walking it two or three times, for 2 1/3-3 2/3 miles. It's a start. I'd like to get to the point of completing 4 miles in an hour. So I'm at a 15 minutes a mile pace. Then maybe 5 mph at 12 minutes per mile.

Got some fruits and vegetables at the store this week too- raspberries, salad, and baby carrots, just to start incorporating fresh fruit and vegetables in my diet (already a vegetarian, but most of my veggies are cooked, and I'm not a big fan of fruit unless it's banana chips or smoothies).

September 13, 2012:

After not exercising for awhile regularly, I've decided to recommit myself once again. After getting to the 165+ range (5' 6" height), I am now at about 156. I am barely overweight, using the Body Mass Index as my guide. I can't remember being 144 2 years ago! but I was. Anyway, just going through a break up has inspired me to lose weight and exercise, as well as improve my life in other ways. I know exercising will improve my mood and confidence, so I'm trying to recommit myself. Of course feeling better and looking better will help me as I re-enter the dating scene. Hopefully fighting off the bad moods and sadness as well.

As far as a weight loss goal, I don't really see myself in the 120's- not yet anyway. I think 130-145 would be a good goal. Let's see if I can get there first.
Goal 1- (2 lbs.) 154- BMI- 24.9 "no longer overweight"
Goal 2- (4 lbs.) 150
Goal 3- (4 lbs.) 146
Goal 4- (4 lbs.) 142
Goal 5- (4 lbs.) 138
Goal 6- (4 lbs.) 134

There are 15 weeks left till New Year's. 3 months. At 1 lb. a week, I'd like to try to lose 15 lbs. and reach 140 by January 1, 2013.

I started right by walking 2 miles today. I'd like to walk 2 miles a day, 5x a week to start for the month of September. By October I'd like to add strength training and by November, I'd like to start running.

Slacking off a bit

Well, I haven't been on Sparkpeople recently.

I weigh 144 now, which is -14 from my heaviest at 158. For one thing, I am not working at Starbuck's anymore so I'm not getting all of those latte and pastry calories.

I feel motivated though, because I lost that weight (although I wasn't really trying), I know that I can lose more weight and be healthier and stronger if I actually commit myself to it.

I'd like to see what I can do the rest of March, April, May, June & July. I'll be transferring to a 4 year college hopefully in August. My goal weight is 120-130, which is 14-24 lbs. to lose.

I'm hoping I can get back into being more active on Sparkpeople to help me stay motivated & track my progress.

The Freshman 15???

There is a a such thing called "The Freshman 15" which is college students putting on 15 pounds their freshman year of college. I am coming up to the end of my 2nd semester or first year of college. I am living at home while attending college, so my eating habits have not changed to say, college cafeteria food. One thing that has changed however is the fact that I am working at Starbuck's- so I am drinking their drinks, and eating some of their food which is an additional source of calories for me. When I joined Sparkpeople last year before I started college, I weighed about 149 lbs. So, at my heaviest this year I weighed 158. Now I am weighing in at about 153-156. So, while I haven't gained the "freshman 15" I did gain about 7 lbs. I would add to that I am more stressed, have less time to exercise, and have an irregular sleeping pattern, due to working and going to school, squeezing in study time and "free time" in when I have time, which often equates to the early morning hours. I am trying to pass my classes, and devote time to studying instead of exercising.

As far as my long term weight loss goals, they're still the same. I know for my height, about 5'6", I am now slightly over the healthy BMI weight. I know the minimum weight for my height is 117. For me, getting down to 150 & staying there would even be good at this point. 120 seems like too little for me, 130 would be good, though at a 25 lb. weight loss, that is definitely ambitious for me.

Well, I'm trying to get back into this a little bit. I started school in August. I am also starting my new job next week, but with starting my new job, I have realized how I will be making money, and it's time for me to take control and responsibility for the direction of my life, including trying to reach goals that I set for myself, such as fitness.
