Wow, great job on the race!!! You are SUCH an inspiration! I love how supportive your family is of your goals.

Thank you for praying for Johnny. Please pray that he does not catch any more viruses this season (everything he gets turns into pneumonia) and that the blood clot dissolves quickly and that he can start playing hockey soon.

Thank you for your prayers, Tia! They are sooo much appreciated.

Love,
Suzanne

Well done on your race. You look pretty good in the picture.
Do you feel like you shrug your shoulder when you run. Try to relax the arms a little more and don't try to over do your natural stride,
It might be worth having a professional look at you run as it hard to comment on a picture.

We all run different so what good for you may not suit me.

I know these are not excuses, but I'm using them anyway!!

1. I can't workout because of my hip, so my eating is totally off.

2. My son is in the hospital and between stress and being on the run, I have not made the best eating choices.

Glad to see you did so well!

Like Gboomer, I've been having a little bit of chocolate each day, don't have kids and live in a neighborhood with few trick-or-treaters, so I haven't bought Halloween candy yet. The plan is still to get peanut M&Ms, which are my husband's favorite but completely ignorable for me!

A little bit of dark chocolate is a regular part of my diet, so as long as that doesn't count, then I'm doing fine with the challenge. It helps that we don't have kids and this neighborhood hasn't much of a trick-or-treat scene anyway.

I'm gonna need help =-)

Monday, October 19, 2009

I am going to go on a NO HALLOWEEN CANDY diet!
Will you join me?
I need to know I have support out there with some SparkFriends (SF) doing it with me.

I have already had one little Snickers, a few handfuls of candy corn (love those), Mentos and bought 2 bags of chocolate M&M's. IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS!!! I NEVER buy candy!! I RARELY EVER EAT CANDY!

I don't know what has gotten into me! BUT I have to stop! My husband would NEVER tell me not to eat something. Or bring it to my attention. That's my job =-) Besides the fact that it is better he didn't. He is a smart and loving man.

My goal is not to eat ANY more candy until after Nov 30!

This is my game plan. (I do this every year.)
I will say no! No! NO! NO! NO! hundreds of times! I will not eat anymore!!

I will freeze all the chocolate the kids get form Halloween and separate the other candy into different categories for them (now just my daughter).

I gotta have it.
I wanna take to school.
I don't like.
Dad will want.

IF there is chocolate left in the freezer over a month. I will make a dessert with all of it and take it to one of the many parties we have to go to over the holidays.

If in one month I desire a piece of candy will allow myself 4 pieces.

Alright if you are in with me give me a holler and tell me your game plan.
I NEED some SF's to do it with me =-)

I'm in! I actually have been off sweets all of October and planned through end of month, but I'll officially say no Halloween candy because then I won't sneak into the leftovers during November! Ha!

Ok, here's my game plan:
(1) Continue no sweets through Dec 15 (big weight goal date), with one exception of 1 serving of sweets at Thanksgiving
(2) Dec 15-Dec 31: 3 total servings of sweets during that timeframe (better use them wisely!)

Tia...I am afraid I can't join you in this. :( I like my chocolate too much! I give up so much food, but chocolate is something I do eat. I only buy those small bags of sugar free chocolate candy. One little Hershey's bar is only 33 calories. :) I eat only sugar free candy, and it will not affect my weight......so I don't have to say 'no'. I also like Baskin Robbins sugar free hard candy. They have maybe 10 calories per piece....and they have butterscotch and more! So.....don't suffer if you can have your 'cake and eat it, too' lol....when it is so few calories.....you can afford to indulge!

Well, I don't think I will join you because I've given up so much for months and I might Splurge on a piece or two (maybe). It easy to say "no" when I get up so darn early to get this done. Who knows, I may change my mind when it comes around. Anyway, I have two girls and we get tons of candy. So, I sort it and they keep what they really like and I put it out of my sight. The rest I bag up and send to work with the hubby. Gradually I get rid of the rest when the kids forget about it. Good luck. You can do this. It seems easy when you compare it to doing a TRI.

I give out candy I don't like so it won't tempt me.

My 18 yo DD (at 9 years old) used to save all her collected candy until Thanksgiving time (after all the other kids had devoured their stash) and then sell it in the cafeteria for a quarter a piece. Enterprising kiddo! This year our church is doing a quarter drive to feed kids in Rwanda. It costs only a quarter a day to feed a child, so I'm considering bringing back her practice in a 'more noble' way.

I'm in with you. I have a little advantage in that my children are too old for trick or treat and we live off the beaten path so there's no need to purchase it for the lil goblins, so no temptations at home. I do all the shopping so no stray items should show up.

I'll try to be extra cautious to not mindlessly dip into candy jars at work.

Tia, I bookmarked this blog post!

This is an excellent way to set a goal and plan the actions to achieve it. I bookmarked this, to refer to when/if I hit a plateau. The scope of my goal and plan is less detailed at the moment and works well for me now. But I wonder if a much more in-depth goal and plan could be the secret of breaking from a plateau! So, I'm going to test my theory if/when the time comes!

Thank you so much, my SparkFriend, for sharing your plan with us. I will pray for you as you train and will be cheering you on for each event. Please share your stories of each event as you did in your blogs:

"Triathlon Results =-) Sept 20th" - but especially your "TIA's Triathlon :)"

The way you shared those events with us, I found myself almost out of breath, feeling like I was right beside you!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

And, yes, "let the games begin!" - TODAY!!!
