What was I thinking?

Saturday, February 09, 2013

My biggest hope for this year moving closer to the healthy side of life with no major issues. Unlike last year with my multiple surgeries. Thankfully my feet are doing a lot better. The problem is with my back. The surgery helped, but then the other day I went to move a desk (really what was I thinking) and I tweaked the back. Needless to say here I am a week and a half later still in pain. UGH! emoticon Not my smartest move...

On another note I hope everyone is safe from the big snow storm we had here in the north east. Locally we made out pretty well, but I see were on the coast there are major issues. Stay safe my friends.

Having back problems myself, I know exactly how you feel. We just get tired of not being able to do things, don't we? I find myself lots of times doing things that I shouldn't without even thinking. Hope you're better soon!

Ouch, hope your back is better soon!! I've found Topricin, a topical anti-inflammatory that is homeopathic and works much MUCH better for me than other remedies so if you have a health-food-type store nearby, you might want to give it a try. I used it on my back before and after spending 4 hours bending over to plant cactus and my back was in great shape afterward, although I had expected I would want a bucket full of morphine, if you know what I mean. Either way, hope you're better by the time you read this and I agree totally with the wishes for our east-coast friends - what a storm!

We humans are funny - not in a ha ha way - but in a "are you kidding??!!" kind of way. I have, often, been down with something and the moment I feel even a little better think I'm Wonder Woman. Always results in a setback.

Relax..............

Plugging along

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

I took a much needed break from blanket making after my mad rush for Christmas. I do have a few I still need to get done soon though. I have been looking for a particular material for quite some time and finally found it. It should arrive today so I can make the blanket by Feb 5th for a birthday present.

I did make a beautiful Cardinal one for a lady here at work who wanted it for her mom. Here is the picture of that one.

Meanwhile, I'm looking for a new job after 25 years at the same place. We just don't have a promising future here and I need stability. I sure hope something new comes along.

Take care my friends - I hope all is well with you.

FitBit !!!

Thursday, December 20, 2012

I have been wanting a fitbit for sometime now, but decided to wait and ask my husband for it for either my birthday or Christmas. Well he gave it to me today! I am so excited and hoping this will get me moving through those winter months. I have had to wait until my feet were cleared from surgery and I just had my appointment yesterday. He says all is good and now i can start tracking those steps!

This morning I got right on the web and set up my account and linked it with Spark people. Doing that put me in a new Team for Fitbit! I think this will give me added incentive to walk, walk, walk... I love to walk and have missed it very much this year. This will also track my sleep and I'm looking forward to seeing some results for that too.

I wish you all a very happy and healthy season!

Adopt a Family

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Our workplace likes to raise money and adopt a couple of families for Christmas. We work with a local SOS shelter to find families in need. One of the things we do to get money donations is we put raffle items together and sell tickets to win the prizes. We have some really nice items to bid on. I of course have made and donated a blanket for the raffle table.

The other thing I do every year is find my son's name on a Christmas tree and buy for that child with my son in mind. It makes me feel good to give to a Joshua every year. This year I decided since I had the foot surgery that I might not find his name so I took one of the adopt a family kids (a 13yr old boy) and I bought him clothes as another donation to our family. I had my granddaughter help me with picking things out since she will be 13 in January and as she said "knows what boys that age wear". I find it also teaches her about giving to others. The buying has also put holiday spirit in gear.

Since I like to share my blankets with you I have attached a photo.

I hope you are all getting into that holiday spirit!
