September Goals

Sunday, August 29, 2010

I’ve been thinking about goals for September and think I want to focus more on my attitude. Work is a stressful place because of some political bull and after last weeks effort on my part to remain positive and as calm as possible during a very trying week I’ve decided I need to work on that attitude more. So Next month is going to be my Super, Spectacular, Splendid, Superb, Sensational September!

I will make it a point to take deep breaths throughout the day and not participate in gossip about the people at work. I will think positive thoughts and repeat them during the day. I will come up with positive mantras to live by throughout the month! I will be positive!

Other goals I will continue with that I currently do. I will eat within my calorie range and track my food. I will also continue with Cardio and strength training and attempt to increase total fitness minutes from last month. I will continue to drink water as my main source of liquid and get at least 8 glasses a day in. I will also get as much sleep as I can aiming for 7 – 8 hours.

This is going to be a great month!

I liked your thoughts for September...makes me want to focus on being more positive too - too easy to get caught up in things that don't matter and bring me down. Thanks for posting and reminding me of what's important!

I did not just like this blog I LOVED it! Do you work with me at the detox because wow that place you describe sounds just like where I work! My normally positive attitude and been stretched so far it is now fraying along with my nerves. I am going to have to think long and hard as to how I can become more positive and definitely need to come up with a plan to do so. Thanks for bringing this issue up!

Marvelous, Terrific, Wonderful, Thankful and FANTASTIC!

Friday, August 27, 2010

As I mentioned in an earlier blog I renamed the days of the week to help with my attitude to get through this very hectic week at work. I would say the new names out loud through out the day to different people. I even told them that yesterday that it was Thankful Thursday and part of the reason was because today was Fantastic Friday.

Today I came in to work and I had a note taped to my door from one of my co-workers that said, “Happy Fantastic Friday! Love, Sarah”. Two other co-workers thought that today was Fabulous Friday! So they got a little confused but they were close enough and it was a positive word! I was happy to see that my attitude had an effect on others.

It truly is the key to make up your mind to respond to things in a positive manner. How you react to situations really make a difference. My week was very stressful however, I continued to say positive things about my day – even if it was only the way I described the whole day and that made all the difference in the world. This is something I need to put in practice more often. It is often too easy to react in a negative way to things that don’t go smoothly.

Now where to my response go?? It is missing in Spark space. Anyway .... What a great idea to rename the days of the week. I think I will do so and post them on my locker at work! Thanks for the great idea and for spreading some positive vibes! Sal

I was trying really hard yesterday to not react to everything. It was really hard, but a great reminder when we get worked up. I'm glad your good attitude is wearing off on others.

We always have a choice as to how we want to react...and we can make such GREAT choices when we think: "how is what I'm going to say going to be heard and reacted to...?"

Great thoughts!

Food disaster

Thursday, August 26, 2010

I am a newsletter editor and treasurer for a non profit organization and we have quarterly committee meetings. One member likes to have a dinner meeting at her house. When she and her husband prepare a meal for the committee members they go all out. They are fantastic entertainers.

All I can say is that my meal was much more than I should have had. I did choose small amounts, but there were too many options to choose from. I also had the blueberry pie with fresh cream and ice cream for dessert.

I am over my calories for the day, but I enjoyed every bite. Today is Thankful Thursday and I am Thankful they only do that once every year.

It's not bad to splurge a little if it,s not done too often.

It sounds terrific, not a disaster, at leas all you ate. You will just need to catch up and low your calorie intake next week so you can elliminate the excess.

Good luck

Glad you enjoyed it! We all indulge from time to time - yes, thankfully it is infrequently and not every day! That would make life hard, lol. Back on track tomorrow!

Are you up for a Challenge?

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

I saw this challenge on two members blogs today (with a little variation) and have sent it to my Class Team hoping to get some of them on board. Are any of you up for the Challenge?

Fill in your name, weight, and goals!

I, (name), do declare that I will lose 10 pounds by 10/10/10. Today I way (weight). My weight on 10/10/10 will be (weight-10) or less.

I will accomplish this goal by completing the following:

Strength training:

I WILL try 10 new Spark recipes between now and 10/10/10.
I WILL do 10 blog updates between now and 10/10/10.
I WILL read 10 Spark articles every week.
I WILL support 10 new Spark friends.
I WILL not let anything stand in my way of accomplishing this goal!

I thought this was clever and very resonable. Let's get on the 10/10/10 Challenge! emoticon emoticon

I was, I did, I am, and I will

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

I was prepared for a hectic week since I knew that we were getting 8 new printers today. I am the only person in my field at work so I get all the fun of getting them on the network and usable to the rest of the company. These printers are a different brand from what we were using so some of the configurations are different and they also are all in one, printer, fax, copiers and scanners. At a much larger scale and with more capabilities that the ones we buy for home use. The good news is that I did have a technician from the company there to help with the initial setup since we are leasing verses buying these machines. The bad news is he wasn’t ready for all the work that we had to do. Something about sales not really informing the technical guys or not knowing what really goes into the features they sell. Needless to say, we only have two machines partially configured and he has to come back later this week. I’m not really surprised by this. I also have a lot more work ahead without him because of mainframe printing that is configured by out parent company.

I did tell myself over the weekend that I needed to make this as positive of a week as I can. Thanks to a healthy reflection email about making our own way in life and not blaming others. I have always believed that deeply and I needed a reminder that I make the decision to react the way I do. And so…

I am not letting the stress get the best of me this week. I am taking deep breaths throughout the day. I am saying positive things about my day. I am calling my days Marvelous Monday, Terrific Tuesday, Wonderful Wednesday, Thankful Thursday and of course my favorite Fantastic Friday. I am so looking forward to FF.

I will make it through this week with a smile on my face!

A wonderful blog. I can truly sympathize I used to be the only electronics technician in our entire R&D team. I loved and hated it at the same time I worked 60-80 hours a week. I am so glad I do not do that anymore.
My husband is really glad too. I love your positive attitude, Keep up the great work.
