So mapmyrun.com finally updated their maps and my neighborhood shows up! Turns out I am walking just about 15 minute miles (15.3), so because of the hills that SP doesn't track, I'm counting it as 15 minute miles for the calorie burn. Anywho, my alarm went off this morning (yay), not that I needed it considering I've been awake since 3am. I have no idea why. Just couldn't fall back asleep. Anyway, I did my weights and cardio this morning. I made my smoothie last night (put it in the freezer this morning so it will be colder than just refrigerated like I had yesterday), and hopefully today will go as well as yesterday calorie-wise. I have been super good about not going over calories, and much better about not going under them. So this is good news. I still need to figure out about the protein powder and whether or not I should put it in my smoothies.
Also, I'm not sure how to sub a vegetarian version of hamburger helper (i.e., we use Tofu not beef) since the stupid hamburger helper thing is already all filled in for all the ingredients (milk, butter, beef, etc). So... I'm just tracking it as though I were eating the beef, when I'm pretty sure tofu is less calories than beef. Anyway... must get ready for work. Probably another long day. 11 hours yesterday again. *sigh*. This check is going to freaking rock though. 19.5 hours of OT on it so far, and 4 more days to go this week.

So my phone crapped out last night. It had 2 battery bars when I went to bed, so I didn't bother plugging it in. Usually 2 battery bars last well into the next day unless I'm using it a bunch. But apparently last night was the exception to that rule, so I woke up at 5:27 this morning and looked at the clock for a few seconds trying to reconcile what time it really was, and realized my alarm hadn't gone off. So that made me mad.
Anyhow, no time for yoga this morning, but I did walk the dogs for 30 minutes. Will have to make up for the missed yoga at some point this week. Grrr.
On the up-side, we did get to the store last night to get stuff for a smoothie, so I had that for breakfast this morning. It was good, but not terribly filling. I think I need to get protein powder to put in it, but it was SO expensive at the grocery store. I don't know if it will be that pricey elsewhere or not. And I'm also not really sure what kind of protein powder I need... There is some protein in the yogurt that i used (Dannon Lite & Fit Vanilla), so that's good. But I'm almost always short on protein, so I know I do need more.
Anyhow this morning's smoothie was: 1/2 Cup frozen strawberries, 1/2 Cup frozen blueberries, 1/2 Cup Dannon Lite & Fit Vanilla yogurt, 1/2 cup orange juice, 1 TBS ground flax seed. That made almost exactly 2 cups of smoothie, which is exactly what my new drink thingy holds, so that worked out well. I may put a 2nd tbs of flax seed in it going forward, but I wasn't sure how powerful the "nutty flavor" would be. I couldn't taste it at all, so I will try more tomorrow (full serving size is 2 TBS), and see how that goes. I know that will help me feel full too since it's fiber.
But the good news is by about noon I was getting hungry, and now at 1pm I'm eating my lunch. Yay! :) That's definitely much healthier than not being hungry and realizing it's past lunch-time when I haven't even had breakfast yet. So I think this is a good plan. At least for now.
I am optimistic about this fitness plan, although I'm still bummed out about the lack of calorie-burn during my power-walks. I still think it should account for the hills in my neighborhood, but I don't know if changing to "hiking w/ hills" would be a real calorie match either, although that is an option on the SP exercise tracker.
Anyhow, I need to finish my lunch and get back to work. 17 hours of OT last week, and probably 10 or so this week if all goes as planned. I cannot keep up the pace that I did last week. So I hope that things don't get quite that hectic going forward.

I just have to say that I love toasted PB&J. Man it's good. LOL
Protein, healthy fats, and it fills me up. What better way to start a weekend morning??
Anyway, I'm still stuck on what to do for weekday mornings. I need to figure out something I can eat on my drive to work. Right now I'm thinking maybe smoothies. Fruit, yogurt, some protein powder or something... that should get me boosted in the morning and it wouldn't feel super heavy in my stomach. That is one of my biggest issues early in the morning. Anything heavy on my stomach makes me feel ill. If I could wait to eat breakfast until like 9, that would work out well for me, and though I did that for a while at work, with things as busy as they are now... I just don't have time. So I forget to eat and then look at the clock and realize it's early afternoon.
It won't work for tomorrow since I don't have anything here to make smoothies with or anything to put it in, and no time to shop today since I have a ton of homework to get done, but maybe next week I can start this and see if it works for me. But what to do this week???

I'm down 5 pounds. Good, right? wrong. I haven't eaten nearly enough this week. I have been exercising appropriately, but I've come in well under my calorie goals at least a couple of times this week and have not been eating the amount of nutrients my body needs to stay healthy. Which means that this weight will probably come right back as my body decides to go into starvation mode. Yesterday I consumed a whopping 830 calories. My minimum goal is 1250. That's a lot under. The day before I was under as well, though not nearly so severely. So hopefully because it's only been a couple of times that I've come in under my body won't hate me yet. But I have to figure this out. i have to figure out how to fit breakfast and lunch into my life during the work week. That's what is killing me. My workload has exploded over the last month or so, and I'm told it's only going to get worse and my boss says I have to figure out how to handle it because I will not be getting any help this year.
So I've put in 11+ hour days most days of the week, only to come home and put 3 hours in on homework, fall into bed, get up to exercise, and start again the next day.
Today is Saturday and I'm getting ready to go into work because I have to catch up and I was not able to do it yesterday. I worked 11 hours yesterday with no break (I ate my cereal at 1pm while still working), and I couldn't stay any longer. I was no longer able to focus, so I gave up and hopefully after a full nights sleep last night (I did not set my alarm and even left my phone far from the bedroom so if it rang I didn't hear it), I may be able to get the rest of what I need to get done within a 4 or 5 hour window... This week I'll have put in at least 55-60 hours at work. Next week will probably be more of the same.
I can't do this long-term. But what alternative do I have????

Ok I have to come up with something else for breakfast. I used to eat my cereal around 8am, after I got to work and settled in a bit. I'm not hungry prior to that, and sometimes eating earlier than that would make me feel sick to my stomach. But lately I lose track of time and I forget to eat until after noon. Today I didn't remember until 1pm. Yesterday was 2pm. And I know that isn't healthy. But I'm not sure what else to do...
If I could figure something out that I could eat on my way to work (obviously cereal is a bad option here), that might work. I just know that prior to 7am I would definitely be feeling gross if I ate that early. I leave for work between 7 and 7:10 to get to work at 7:30. And I am not sure what might work in there. Not that eating in the car is the best way to do things either, but eating earlier in the morning is better than not eating until after lunch-time. Right??
What to do...
