having someone to talk to

Friday, April 05, 2013

I thought I would do this much more often--but time goes so quickly! I have spent the last two weeks with a new trainer. I have known her for awhile and we have talked many times, but she has helped me get serious about getting healthy and taking care of myself. just having someone to share my food tracker with and to discuss the kinds of exercise I am doing has been a great motivator. She has taught me how to group exercises so I am working opposing groups and how to create a mixed workout of cardio and strength training that is the most efficient. We talked about the fact that I am on track with calories--but my protein levels are low. A few extra calories are not a bad thing to keep the protein in check.

Over the next two weeks I will take off 7 days to prepare for my daughter's wedding. I am so happy for her, that she has truly found her soulmate. He is wonderful and kind and playful--just like her.
However, I am finding that I am more old fashioned than I thought. She is being married by a friend who is mean and sharp-tongued and just plain not nice! It takes something out of the moment. It will be a wonderful wedding with all of her friends and our family--
It also takes me out of my comfort zone. I am a creature of habit! There is comfort in knowing how to behave, what to say, where to be. it is situations like these that throw me out of whack!

    I remember my daughter's wedding.
Make the most out of every moment and overlook the small stuff.
p.s. everything is small stull stuff!

first one!

I have always thought about doing a blog, but never sat down to actually do it! Today I am 57. I have a full and productive life--3 kids, 1 beautiful grandaughter 2 wonderful son-in-laws. My career in education didn't go where I thought it would but as a district curriculum developer it is crazy busy, wonderful and rich. I visit a local gym 3-4 days a week and swim more for relaxation than fitness. Finding extra time is difficult, but if I make any resolutions this year--that is it!! Finding time to slow down.
this week I went on a business trip with my boss. Lynn always carries a carpet bag full of work stuff. during the week the bag is always with her. but, when we go away she carries a beautiful new, Vera Bradley laptop case. In district, she is comfortable with her worn carpetbag--it is comfortable at home. But when she goes out, she isn't. It is always interesting for me to observe these little intimate details--they tell us so much about each other---
