How I love my local Goodwill Store!!!!

Saturday, April 12, 2014

I've just recently started visiting my local Goodwill Store! I've found some wonderful little self indulgent treats there at a great price! I love herbal teas, having a warm cup and listening to a little jazz is one of the ways I often unwind. I have somewhat of an obsession with mugs, ones for coffee and tea. I enjoy my morning cup of Colombian Java in an eight oz mug but for teas I prefer a much smaller tea cup. I found four of the cutest little tea cups for $1.91! My other self indulgent treat...Fitness DVD'S! I have a library of them, over 300 now, but I always get them for just a few bucks. Over the last month I've found at my Goodwill Store Weight Watchers Punch, a particular Pilates Dvd that I couldn't find anywhere else AND just yesterday I found THREE Turbo Jam DVD'S!!! I've wanted those for some time but didn't want to spend a lot for them. So the next time you see a Goodwill Store stop in a browse a bit, ya just might find something u need and for sure something u want! I stop in the store now a couple times a week never spending over $5.00-$6.00! Also, don't forget to donate ANYTHING that u no longer use, it could be a blessing in the life of someone else!

I love going to the goodwill stores. That is where I buy most of my exercise dvds from also. I bought my Turbo Jam dvds there too after wanting them like you but not wanting to pay a big price for them. I have found some of the beachbody ones there not the newest ones. I buy other exercise dvds that aren't beachbody ones too. I am addicted to buying exercise dvds I think. lol. I sometimes buy dvds accidentally that I already have at home. It would be great if there was a exercise dvd swap team here where the members would like to swap dvds that they have an extra one of or that they no longer use for ones that they would use. If they were worried about dvds being sent they could use delivery confirmation. I am glad that you found the Turbo Jam dvds there. It is exciting when we find things that are related to fitness when we are trying to be more fit and healthy.

Great post! That's exactly how I go on shopping sprees too! Especially these days, while I'm losing sizes, I can have new duds without paying a huge price.

Once Again I'm Going For It...

Saturday, March 29, 2014

For the last three or four years I've set the same goal for myself and I have yet to reach it...lol! That goal is to give myself the best gift ever for my birthday - REACHING MY GOAL WEIGHT or getting within a few pounds of it! Sooooooo once again this year I am setting that same goal but this time I am a lot more determined! My 53rd Birthday is August 24th and by that day I am going to be close to my 150 pound goal. I do really well at maintaining my weight but the weight I am maintaining is not where I want or need to be! I have everything I need to accomplish my personal goal, the knowledge, the tools, the determination and the time! So today I am leaving MAINTAINING my weight behind and moving into the zone of LOOSING weight. Today begins my 53rd BIRTHDAY WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE!!!

Now on another note - I enjoy working out at home, I'm totally not a Gym girl. I've had many Gym Memberships and I never went consistently. For me it was just too much work to drive somewhere to work out and then drive home. It took me a long time to finally admit that the gym just wasn't my thing. I enjoyed the Zumba Classes and the Aqua Fit Classes when I went but that wasn't enough to make me want to drive somewhere to work out. Over the years I have built a pretty big Fitness Video Library (about 300 DVDS) and I've bought Cardio euipment/Weights/Bands/Stabilty Balls, etc and created a gym in my house. I love being able to just go upstairs, pop in a DVD or jump on the Treadmill/Elliptical, watch a movie or my fav show while I work up a sweat. My question for you is what is your favorite way to get your workout in?

I love your blog!! I have been here since 2011 and I lost weight, gained weight and I am back at it again.

It just hit me the other day that I don't think I am a gym girl either. I am hanging on to my membership because I hope to take some advantage of it next winter when I hopefully weight less. I always feel self conscious there and not exactly good about myself.

You can do this!! I believe that you can!!

I love doing breathing exercises - they're fast and super effective. I've built up to pretty much doing them every day first thing in the morning.

I know you can do this! Hang in there! emoticon

I'm a work out at home person also. I enjoy doing circuit exercises, DVD's, Tread Climber and kettle bells. I've also maintained for almost a year - during that year I gained 15 pounds. I'm on my way to taking off that weight and meeting my goal.

I'm with you on exercising at home rather than a gym! I walk outside, and when I can't walk outside, I use the elliptical, treadmill or one of the many videos I have.

You can do this! I'm routing for you to get to your goal by your birthday! (Us August birthday people need to stick together!)

Emotional Day...

Thursday, March 20, 2014

Found out on yesterday that a girlfriend was rushed to the hospital after she wasn't feeling well at work. They soon discovered that she had an Aneurysm that had burst in her brain. That same day her condition was was critical but she was breathing own her own. Overnight she had to be placed on a ventilator. Hours later her body started to shut down and shortly after that she passed away. She has a daughter and son, both in their twenties, two younger sisters and her mom and dad. They r are very close knit family, so much so that they all work together in their family pharmacy. I am really in a low place this morning because this is truly making me realize that tomorrow is not promised to any of us. I just talked to her a couple of days ago and now she us gone at just 54 years old. I lost my own mother when I was just 23 years old and it was the most devastating thing ever. It took me years to make it to the tiger side of my grief. My heart is so heavy for my friends daughter because a young girl walking through womanhood without her mother is just awful, it almost destroyed me! #brokenhearted

Yes, I have learned to not ignore that headache that won't go away after taking something for it. I've known several people who have passed away from ignoring the headache and have the clot burst in their head. One friend had the terrible headache and went right away to the ER. They were able to determine that the clot was there but they caught it before it had a chance to burst and he made it out of that scary situation ok. Most of the time that terrible headache is the worst one you've ever had and nausea/vomiting happens along with it. If you ever experience that please go the the Emergency Room asap and don't go to sleep.

I am so sorry to read about the loss of your friend! My very close friend (55 years old with a husband and 3 kids in their 20's) just passed away 2 weeks ago from cancer. It is shocking and so very, very sad to lose a friend so suddenly and at (seemingly) such a young age, and to see their loving families go through such pain. I've been so sad, that I have not even blogged about what happened...until mentioning it now when I stumbled across your blog. Thoughts are with you and her family.

so sorry to hear about your friend. In January my best friend died of a massive heart attack, leaving behind two sons. She was 53 on 1/9 and died on 1/26. I have a very empty spot in my heart and miss her every day. You are correct in saying there might not be a tomorrow. We have to make every day count. My prayers are with you and the family.

My name is Rachelle52 and I AM A FITNESS DVD ADDICT...lol! Some women buy shoes, I buy Fitness DVD's!!! I truly am addicted! I will tell myself when I go in Walmart, or surf the websites of Amazon or Collage, "I'm just looking, I'm not buying ANY DVD's." It doesn't work!!! I end up buying at least 3-4 a month...lol! The only way that I don't buy them is if I don't see them! I currently own 215!!!! With that said I have decided to share them with you guys by doing reviews on them! Maybe I can help someone decide on purchasing a DVD that is just right for them. I have Beginner ones, Beginner/Intermediate ones, and many Intermediate ones! The Beginner ones I tend to do on days when I don't feel like working out but I need to do something! I have them in the categories of Yoga, Pilates, Step, Walking, Latin Dance, Weight Training, Interval Training one, Tai Chi, Abs, Balance Ball, and others that I just can't think of right now...lol! I have about 15-20 in each category. I will let you know when I start posting them, hopefully within the next day or so!

I feel the exact same about walking shoes!
I must have 5 or 6 pairs now and I really only wear one, but when I see a hot new pair, usually online, I tell myself, have to have to have to!!!
But I am doing alot better.
I am not buying any new ones lately, mostly because I cant afford to.
Good luck with your rehab.
