good start

Today was a good day. I drank all my water, though i did have a soda at my neighbor's. One is okay, 4,5,6 is not. I got on the recumbent bike and watched some Def Poetry Jam. I lasted 40 minutes, 7.5 miles and burned 172 calories. I'm going out to job hunt tomorrow so i think i'll take my pedometer to see how much walking i do. Now i'm gonna make some toast and eggs for dinner cause i'm in the mood for breakfast.

emoticon After months of being overly lazy i'm declaring today DAY 1 of my sparkpeople challenge. Once again i'll say i'll do my best. This being my third start i'm both discouraged and hopeful. I just really have to dive in and use all these resources at my fingertips to stay motivated. I am the only one who can change me, unfortunately i'm also my toughest critic. I need to continuously push myself forward. No more backpedaling. Live in the present, live for the future!

I have returned to my Spark mission! Though i did well thru the Thanksgiving holiday , Christmas was a different story. oopsy, my bad. i'm not allowing myself to feel too guilty about it though. I planned on getting back on track and i'm glad i've started today. i've been thinking really positive (thanks to my cymbalta) I just hope that i can follow thru with my daily goals. note i said "daily" instead of weekly or monthly or yearly. it's all about the baby steps for me. :) 2008, prepare to be conquered!!!

So last night i think i did the healthiest food shopping of my entire life. lots of fruits and veggies, planned meals, and healthy snacks. Also, since i haven't been getting enough protein in my diet I thought i'd try a protein shake. So this morning I made a chocolate soy protein shake with some milk, ice, wheat germ, and a banana. OH MY GOD! It is soo delicious. This is going to be way healthier than my regular two big bowls of cereal. And i'm full after only one serving, which is just awesome. I think tomorrow i'm gonna try it with strawberries :) YUM

  Where does one obtain chocolate soy protein? It actually sounds pretty good as you described it!

    I was always hesitant to try a protein shake..now I'm addicted for breakfast! I usually don't have time to use a blender, so I bought a "shaker cup" from GNC.. That way I can make a shake just about anywhere. If you get sick of shakes for breakfast, mix in a serving of the protein powder with oatmeal..it makes a fantastic warm breakfast!

So i woke up this morning (well it was 11 am). I am in a great mood today. Yes i wrote that other blog saying i was angry about how i slipped but i forgive myself and am moving on. honestly, i think part of why i slipped, besides the fact that my friends house wasn't that health-friendly, but it saturday was also the 7th year mark of my father's passing. I know it was in the back of my mind and i really think that contributed to my binging. guess i'm more of an emotional eater than i thought. i thought i was mainly a boredom eater. anyways, so i'm feeling lots more positive. optimism is practically coming out of my ears and butt today. i talked to my roommate (aka my mom, haha) about sparkpeople and showed her around the site. i asked her to please stop bringing in cakes and cookies and snacks from work. she works at a hospital and it's always somebody's birthday over there. we've decided that since i'm the cook of the house i'm going to look up health conscious recipes and plan some dinners out for the week. I don't think i have the will power to plan out my entire day's meal and stick to it, but dinners i can handle. and at least i'll know how many calories to work around for breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
also, i've been drinking my water like a good little health robot. and i've found that i snack less that way and i'm beginning to tell when i'm actually hungry as opposed to just maybe thinking or convincing myself i am.
yay for me! progress has been seen.
