Focusing on one thing every day is helping me - and I'm desparately in need of any help I can get. Don't focus on everything at once because it is so easy to get overwhelmed. Say to yourself: My goal for today is... and I can do it just for today, one day at a time." For example, my words to myself this morning were "My goal for today is to not eat sweets and I can do it just for today, one day at a time!" That is a frequent daily goal for me and some days I accomplish it and some days I don't. It doesn't mean we're a failure or should give up on ourselves - it just means we start each new day doing the very best we can. Hang in there - you are not alone. You can do it. Last week I was feeling so sorry for myself till I read about people that are worse off then I am on our team plus other blogs. My problem is only a drop in the bucket compared to others. I now put on my pedometer like I do my underwear every morning . Steps is steps. am only able to walk at my own pace with pain of sciatic and not do the floor exercise till I see my Doctor. I am sure she may say the chair exercise as that would be great in the house on days I can not walk out.As one of the Sparks mentioned. Walking is a natural way we all have to walk. Slow it does not matter and dont do it long periods. Do short ones in the day if you find too much pain. We can do it. If you think when you are told to fast for a physical. We do it. So we do have a WILL. We have too. Or the doc would say forget coming in to have your blood work. So we do what he or she says. Right? Food is an addiction of wrong food it is everywhere or we would not be here to this site. We chose to eat the wrong foods. Smoking is addiction but it all comes back to health hazards to people. We have choices . I watched the Hoarders last night on T.V. I pushed the wrong button searching and I stopped and watched this. Three women who were addicted to things. Oh my how terrible. One ladies hubby had to have the house liveable so he could come home from hospital. She finally did it but it was so hard for her. Now thank God I am not addicted to a mess in my home or things like I see on that program. What addiction to have to break. She was so weak and stressed out mentally. As the family was throwing things out. Oh my. I have loss weight and I have gained over the years. Knowone held the fork of food to my mouth. I had choices I blew it. Of course as the songs says. I DID IT MY WAY. I am not happy being plump I get down. Knowing really I am not that person as I made bad choices only me. Anything in life is hard if we dwell on the negative. I dont think you can be happy saying what you say. One day at a time go girl baby steps.. Try that. One day. When you do. Put a smile face on a page in a note book off line. Go buy the happy stickers motivate yourself. Put Mon to Sunday. Then put on the happy sticker face when you have done something in the day rather then saying. I cannot do it. Look at your profile the beautiful smile. That is a winner right there and you have encouraged me at times. Your half way girl. Dont stop. This is not the time to quit. All these comments how blessed can you be on your page here. You have found the right group and they are here for you. . Where would you also find a site that does not ask for money to join. To belong here is free so that you can be a doer and beable to help others like yourself who says. I cannot do it. I admire that new girl who writes blogs Honouria. She is an inspiration to just join and get in and courage us in our group.. Then you have Jill. All that I am reading here. We have a great group. We are all here and when we push you, It is WE CARE. If it was not for my spark people to needle me on. It would be a worse ordeal for me. We need friends. I know people can help but it isME that has to get going. Every day we get older. I am 71 I am half way through my life really. You have 12 Sparks comments but now you have to be in charge of Yourself it is in your ball park. Hi Wyndy, I've been where you are in the past but I'm so glad I never gave up on being healthier. Being committed is hard but being obese and unhealthy is even harder. I hope you give your Journey to better health another try. Just focus on changing one easy and doable thing such as drinking 8 glasses of water daily or exercising even if it's in a chair 10 minutes 4 or 5 days a week. These little changes will make a difference. Hang in there my dear friend. . .You are stronger than you think you are. Take good care. Hugs & Love, Jill Report Inappropriate Comment |

I hear you buddy. I feel that way so often - and you know we are practically two peas in a pod. It's ok just to coaste for a bit, but just hang in here and chat, ok? Maybe it won't look so bleak in a little bit. It does take a lot of work to do this. Maybe you just need to breathe for a bit, hmmm? Report Inappropriate Comment |

Okay, maybe you are too tired and can't do it the way you are trying to. How about not trying so hard and simply making ONE or two SMALL realistic changes that you KNOW you CAN and WILL actually do? Can you make ONE change, maybe swap soda for water, add a salad or soup before your dinner a couple of night a week (about 20-30 minutes before the meal - it will fill you up sooner, leave you satisfied, and you are likely to eat less), or add one new vegetable to your meals, plan to eat a healthy breakfast, or whatever you think MIGHT actually be doable without being stressful.

Wyndy, How many times have you felt like this? I bet quite a few. I know that I would run out of fingers counting how many times I have felt that way. A few times for a few days, I didn't think about, didn't do it, then kicked myself in the butt for gaining back some of the weight that I worked so hard to lose. Don't be me--listen to your inner self. If you feel that you felt better when you weighed more, or if you know you were healthier when you were heavier, then by all means, do it!!! It's your decision, but I think you won't feel this way. But it is your choice. and even with all of us behind you and hoping you do the right thing, it's still up to you to make the final decision. Good Luck! Noel

Try to take it a meal at a time and celebrate small victories. It sounds like you need to make small changes and make them habits before moving on.

According to your ticker, you are half-way to goal. That's excellent! Now is not the time to quit. Now is just the time to congratulate yourself for the progress you've made and look over your plan. Sometimes our bodies hold a little more water and the scale doesn't give us the number we want. Sometimes our bodies are tired or repairing cells and maybe it doesn't burn as many calories one week. Still, our bodies are constantly adapting. Stay with it. You've come so far. Report Inappropriate Comment |

Right now you can't do it. And then the moment passes. You get up. You drink some water. You take a walk around the block. One step at a time. One goal at a time. Then you realize: You can do it. You ARE doing it. The "can't"? That was yesterday. Report Inappropriate Comment |

Today i feel like looking at alternative health sites. I started off the day at Atmara's site. I love her old goddess paintings so much but now she is into mandalas so was disappointed. But she does have some neat links to alternative healing practices like reconnective healing that have been interesting. And you know what happens when you follow a link, that leads to another link and another link and another link ad nauseum.
I have discovered that my computer chair is the only chair in the house that doesn't cause me total excruciating pain in my hip and legs so I guess that's why I spend so much time in front of the computer. There is a chair downtown that has a motor to back and to go up and out that is very comfortable. It's $1,000.00 though, black leather. I'm not a black leather chair sort of person, they just don't look comfy and book reading inviting. But, I have threatened to take my kindle down to the store and sit in it for 1/2 hour and read to see if it is a long term chair or just a chair that feels good for a few minutes when you've been walking around. LOL.
So, on to the links to find something else that is interesting.

It is amazing how important it is to get a chair that is comfortable to sit in. I have a really hard time myself. I have a well padded glider that I can sit in for about half an hour, and that's it. Otherwise I best of lying flat. It's about the only thing that doesn't hurt. Seems t me that you shouldn't have to pay that much for a good chair. Happy hunting. Report Inappropriate Comment |
