"Out of Control" by She Wants Revenge

It's a Rough World Out There.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

I think were it not for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

It would be sooo easy to run down the hall and cram either a) brownies or b) banana bread into my mouth, but I resist! Following Monica Seles' lead - she helps control her emotional eating by taking a 20-second time-out, thinking about the problem, and figuring out what she can DO rather than pushing the feelings away - helps!

Right now is the time crunch of poorly-timed paychecks vs. bills, tax filing time (which is just WONDERFUL for those of us not sucking the country dry by paying our bills on time, and not buying things we can't afford, like houses and designer children), and for me, the realization that last season's clothes are not going to fit and by "not fit" I mean that they didn't fit me last year either and the situation is now critical.

So how am I dealing with this in a healthy way? I'm trying to work out a way to have something more than -$42 after this week's paycheck (done), putting off filing another two weeks (hey, I have until the 15th!), planning to take the bus 3x/week for the next month, adjusting the student loan payments, calling the IRS to set up a payment plan, etc.

I'm also strapping my HRM on and heading to my lunchtime spinning class. Ta!

Own yourself. Be yourself. Live.

My response to the info in this thread:

I came to terms with this a while ago - that I will always have to be conscious of my choices in all arenas of life - but isn't that what living is all about? Being responsible for our actions and facing up to our pasts?

The attitude of the uphill struggle is, I feel, one of the things that keeps people from achieving their goals and being happy with themselves. It's not SUPPOSED to be easy. The default setting on humans will always be "MORE!"

It's not my fault that I have diabetes, but it IS my fault if I don't make the effort and sacrifice to keep it under control. I hurt more than myself if I don't (like my family and the economy) - so it's my responsibility to deal with it.

We could all sit around and blame our parents, the media, bad friends and relationships for our being overweight - but it's what WE do about it that matters.

My mantra - OWN THAT SHIZZ! No one else can carry your baggage for you (no matter how hard you try to unload it on them), so you have to find a way to fit everything into your psyche in a way that it's not falling out all over the place.

DEAL WITH IT. OWN IT. BE YOURSELF. CHOOSE WISELY. THINK AHEAD. MIND THE PAST (and the gap between your past, present, and future). LIVE IN THE MOMENT. LIVE!

You only get one life and you sound very determined to enjoy yours. That is a good thing.

Well said. Everything is a choice. I chose to eat ice cream or I don't. I'm the only one who has to answer to it as well.

Thanks for the inspiring blog!
