I have been keeping a spreadsheet and so crunched some numbers tonight out of curiosity. Here are my stats for January:
I tracked my calories every day from Jan 3 through Jan 31.
High Calories: 1815
Low Calories 1337
Average Calories: 1498
I also weighed myself almost every day
High Weight: 184.4 (1/24/11)
Low Weight: 180.8 (1/26/11 & 1/27/11)
Average Weight: 182.5
Month End Weight: 182.5
Average Net Calories: 1431 (did not do cardio most of month due to ankle)
Average Fat: 30 g
Average Carbs: 212 g
Average Protein: 75 g
Average Fiber: 31 g
Average Fruit Servings: 3
Average Vegetable Servings 5.5
I also started measuring myself a couple of weeks ago, on January 17, and I am showing an inch lost on both my waist, chest and bust, though I show a half inch increase in my hips during that time. PMS right now so perhaps that explains it?
I thought these stats were interesting and maybe other people will, too.

I am continuing my reward allowance system this month. I like the reward system but it's weird because sometimes when I meet my goals I still don't feel like I did very well! Hopefully rewards will help get the negative self-image out of my head! When I accomplish my goals for a week or a month, any of my goals, I should be happy instead of criticizing myself for not meeting ALL of my goals. I think that's human nature, to some extent, but hopefully sticking with my program will help me celebrate my successes and getting out of the all-or-nothing mindset.
February Goals:
1. Flylady 50% Complete
2. 5 days Strength
3. 3 days Exercise Bike 1-30 min, 1-35 min, 1-40 min
4. 500 Fitness Minutes
5. Average 1700 Calories or Less
6. Drink Less than 6 Drinks per Week
7. I have another goal I just can't remember right now!
8. BONUS - New Recipe Each Week
Starting the month at 182.5. As you can see by my goals I am obviously focusing on getting into a nice fitness and nutrition routine. I am also working on cleaning up my diet, though as it is I eat very little junk. But I've been studying Michi's Ladder and also trying to eat lean protein with every meal or snack, which is more challenging than it sounds!
I know some people might think that 1700 calories is too much but I am working to raise my metabolism. In order to do so I need to slowly raise the number of calories I am eating until I can eat according to the calculators. By constantly eating less and doing more exercise over the past couple of years I have basically slowed my matabolism to a crawl so now I gain weight super easily. My goal weight is 135 and a 38 year old woman who exercises 3 days a week should be able to maintain a weight of 135 while eating around 1850 calories per day. I think the reason why so many people here, myself included, struggle with losing and at plateaus is because we have destroyed our metabolisms by dieting and being so strict for so long. I am going to try to do this over the next few months, raise my calories and eat the calories (or close to) the my goal weight for my exercise level. I will continue to track my other measurements in addition to weight to see if I can lose some fat and inches doing this, too.

I had a terrible weigh-in this week, I was up 2.5 pounds to 184.4 yesterday. Thankfully this morning I weighed in at 182.6 which is almost 2 pounds less than yesterday. I've been having some digestion issues for the past week or so and I think that's what's going on here, without going into too much detail. So I think I'll use today's weigh-in as my official number, even if it might be cheating a bit. Either way I am still up this week from 181.9 last week.
I earned $15 out of a possible $40 this week, not too good there.
-1- Flylady - DONE
-2- 5 days strength - DONE
-3- 300 Fitness Minutes - only 225
-4- Write 1 hour - did not do
-5- Lose 1 pound per week - gained 0.7
-6- Meditate 5 days - only 1 day
-7- Average 1464 calories - 1530
-8- Bonus - new recipes - DONE - Onion Marmalade from Tom Collichio's cookbook "Think Like a Chef"
I'll be saving my allowance up for some things that cost over $15. I need some new shoes, new bras, and I really want a stock pot of 8 or 12 quarts. I have a 5 or 6 quart one but it isn't big enough to make stock and I have lots of chicken bones in my freezer just waiting to be turned into broth!
I'll be revising my approach, at least my calories, as I am finally, thankfully, out of the walking boot! I need to go to physical therapy and work on strengthening my ankle which is pretty weak right now but still I think it is finally healing!

I did pretty good this week but I am still sad to report I am up 0.2 pounds. I know it's almost nothing but it's the opposite of what I am going for! I decided to track a lot of other factors, too, so took all my measurements this morning. body fat and waist size are the most alarming but these are the things I need to work on now!
As far as my new reward program, which I think of as an allowance more myself as an adult:
1. Flylady 50% - DONE
2. 5 days strength - DONE
3. 300 fitness minutes - only got 270 - I could have pushed to get this one complete but I am using the Sunday through Saturday week to track this goal as used on Spark but for the rest of my goals I am using a Monday through Sunday week. So when I saw I was so close to 300 minutes on Saturday i was ecstatic because I thought I would make my goal on Sunday, forgetting the difference in the weeks. Hopefully this is the ;ast time I forget about that!
4. Write 1 hour - DONE
5. Lose 1 pound per week - gained 0.2
6. Meditate 5 days - 3 days
7. Average 1464 calories - DONE
8. BONUS - try recipes from new cookbook - DONE using the book "You - The Owner's Manual"
So I earned $25 this week, and had $6 leftover from last week. My reward wasn't very exciting though! I ordered a lace up ankle brace for $21 and a front license plate holder (CA requires a front plate though MI did not) for $10. Still, these are things I need and since I didn't feel the greatest about how this week worked out I thought I would order necessities instead of treats for my reward. Besides, my budget this month is a little tight and I needed to get these things anyway. I am sure I will be very happy when they arrive, regardless!
