I'm getting excited about the new Harry Potter movie, as most of you could probably guess from my username. I know I will have some popcorn or nachos at the movie, but I refuse to feel guilty. HP movies only come around once every year or two, so why not indulge and really enjoy the experience?
My fruit intake has been great lately. I've already had five servings today, and I'll probably snack on a cup of cherries before I head out tonight. I got some on sale, and they are yummy.
I was bad last night and had a bigger slice of cheesecake than I should have, but I sent 3/4 of the cake home with my best friend, and the boyfriend will help me finish the few slices that are left. I want to restrain myself and just eat a few bites here and there, but it is simply too delicious! I need to get rid of the temptations in my apartment and quit baking new ones.

Things are going quite well with getting back on track. I worked out six days last week, though my workouts were often short. It still beats sitting on the couch! This routine is definitely more manageable than the one I was on, but I am going to start adding some gym time during the week, partly so I can start strength training.
My water intake last week was awesome. I still had too many beers, but a lot of them were light beer, which helps some. I'll probably be drinking beer more than wine this week as well, given that I'm going to bars that specialize in beer a couple nights and I'm spending the weekend with some non-wine drinkers, but I won't be around heavy drinkers much at all this week, which is good.
I went over my calories a couple of days last week, which is okay. That wasn't my focus for the week, and I'm still trying to get back in the swing of things. I've upped my fruit intake majorly, but veggies are (as always) more of a problem. I like some veggies, but just not by themselves. I'll snack on fruit as well as eating it with meals, but veggies are only side dishes for me. I don't know that I'll ever change that.
I didn't lose much weight in the past week, but my tummy is looking a lot better already. The bloated feeling/look has already gone away completely, which I love. This week, I want to sustain the things I started last week, but stay in my calorie range more days. I'm going out to eat tomorrow for sure, then I'll be out of town over the weekend, so I won't make it every day, but I would like to make it the four days I am at home. My main focus, though, is still on water and exercise!

So as some of you know, I've been a bit off-track for the past two months. It started small, with missing a workout here and there (or an entire week for finals), eating out more often, and having an extra beer at parties. By last week, I wasn't so much back in my old habits as I was in new, sometimes worse habits. I was working out once a week at most, drinking much more than I want to (even with weight loss reasons aside), having diet sodas daily, eating my homemade ice cream with lots of fudge, and having bar food almost every night--mostly cheese fries. Not good!! Somewhat surprisingly, I haven't actually gained any weight back, but I obviously haven't been losing any, either.
The ice cream I tend to keep at 2-6 spoonfuls a day, so I'm not really worried about it (6 spoonfuls for me is about 100-120 calories, so well worth the indulgence). The rest of it has GOT to change.
Thanks to the carbonation, carbs, and sodium, I'm a bit bloated, and I know I've been dehydrated. Patrick and I made a deal that we will cut back on drinking and limit eating out to once a week. I would like to cut liquor completely out and limit beer to once or twice a week max. Wine is what I drink most often at home or out with my family, but with friends, it tends to be beer. I enjoy the wine more and I savor my glasses, so it is my best option. Today was water only, and I'm on my 11th glass. I can tell my body really needed it! I think I will implement a new rule that I can't touch alcohol unless I've already had at least 8 glasses of water, and I have to have an extra glass of water per drink.
I think the workout routine I was in back in April and May was too intense for me. I was spending at least an hour doing intense cardio (mostly elliptical or treadmill with high incline) 5 days per week, and that's a lot to keep up with. Right now, I'm focusing on just getting my butt off the couch and moving. I spent an hour and a half swimming Monday, and the past two days I've done Walk Away the Pounds DVDs. Since I live in Texas, heat often keeps me from wanting to work out, so the DVDs help. I want to get back to working out 5 days a week, but maybe just do 30 minutes of low-impact stuff most of those days. I also really need to add strength training, which I've never been consistent about.
My New Year's resolution was about being healthier, and I really feel like SparkPeople helped me get to a healthy place. I want to get back on track not just to lose weight, but so that my body feels good again. I felt great when I was working out and eating right, and lately, I've felt lazy and miserable. I definitely want to lose weight, and that will keep me motivated, but I want the energy back that I had a couple of months ago. As delicious as they are, cheese fries and beer just aren't worth how I feel.

I did Relay for Life on Friday, and won an ice cream maker in a raffle. As soon as I won it, I knew I would be making ice cream nonstop for days. I love to bake and cook, and when I get a new gadget, I love to use it as much as possible. Since I've never ever made ice cream before, it will be worse.
I have gone a bit crazy with it, but I have made some of the most amazing ice cream in the past few days! Last night, I made Chocolate-Cinnamon Gelato with Toffee Bits, and it was to die for. It's a lot of calories, but sooo worth it. It's super rich, so I can just eat two spoonfuls and be satisfied. I ate about 1/2 cup total last night, in three different sittings. I whipped up the base for honey-vanilla ice cream last night, so I'll be freezing that today and whipping up some chocolate-hazelnut gelato later. I love making this stuff so much that I'm not sure I even care if I go over my calories for the day...
