BLC 20 Goals

Monday, September 17, 2012

What are my goals for this round? After thinking long and hard I came up with several items. I felt that I needed to change things up since me and my body are shifting into a new area of my journey.

1) Since the smaller I get, the harder it is to lose those monster lbs I am used to, I am still challenging myself to lose 1.5 lbs a week.

2) I will track everything, food and work outs.

3) I will make sure I get a minimum of 64 ozs of water a day.

4) I will connect with my supporters daily.

5) I will continue progressing to increase my millage with running and keep running 3 to 4 times a week. Then on my off days, make sure I get in a minimum of 60 minutes of cardio.

6) I will continue build up my ability to resist cravings and temptations.

And if anyone hears of me slacking...feel free to call me on it :)

BLC 19 Results

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

I thought I would share the success that I have had for the last 12 weeks in my weight loss jouney. I have been able to lose 20 lbs and close to 15 inches in 12 weeks. I can contribute it to a lot of things but the big thing for me has been getting motivated to run.

In April I started a training program with the local running group to get me ready for the big race in June. It definately kept me motivated to meet with the group of people on a weekly basis. I thought that I might slack when it ended but that is far from the truth. I am currently training for a 10K and I have registered for at least one race a month all the way through November. So one might say that I have become addicted emoticon

I would like to thank all of those who have encouraged me along the way. Wether the support came in my weight loss journey or my running journey, it all meshes together. I am so thankful to April who turned me and my husband to Spark People because I have been exposed to a wonderful group of people who know the true meaning of support. Yes I admit that I have accomplished alot but without the support of everyone else, it has kept me motivated to keep moving forward. So no matter what part of my journey you have been involved in from weight loss, to running, to being a support for everyday life, and for Hunter and all of the challenges we face with him...I pat you on the back and say thank you!!

Oh yea, and here is a pick to see the visual impact that those lbs and inches have done.

Update to BLC 19 Goals

Monday, June 04, 2012

I have met all of my previous goals. I have lost almost 12 of the 16 lbs that I wanted to lose this round so obviously my goal are working. So I will keep on doing more of the same. The only thing I don't know yet is the number of inches which I will find out on Wednesday but I am sure I am target for that too. My plan is to keep up on all of the things I have been doing.

BLC 19 Goals

Sunday, April 29, 2012

Here is a list of my goals for the next 12 weeks.

Since I have the Spark People App on my phone I plan on doing the following with ease

1) Track everything that goes into my mouth
2) Track all of my fiteness
3) Communicate at least daily with my team mates
4) Drink over 80 ozs of water a day

I also want to continue to lose 1.5 lbs per week.
Keep progressing with my training for running all 4 miles of the Steamboat Classic.
Than keep training to run a Half Marathon in December.
Continue to come out of my shell socially.
I also want to lose up to 15 inches.
My final goal is to also go down another pant size or two.

Welcome to Holland

WELCOME TO HOLLAND
by
Emily Perl Kingsley.

c1987 by Emily Perl Kingsley. All rights reserved

I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability - to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel. It's like this......

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip - to Italy. You buy a bunch of guide books and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum. The Michelangelo David. The gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland."

"Holland?!?" you say. "What do you mean Holland?? I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of going to Italy."

But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland and there you must stay.

The important thing is that they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It's just a different place.

So you must go out and buy new guide books. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met.

It's just a different place. It's slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while and you catch your breath, you look around.... and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills....and Holland has tulips. Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy... and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life, you will say "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned."

And the pain of that will never, ever, ever, ever go away... because the loss of that dream is a very very significant loss.

But... if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things ... about Holland.

How true is this story, and not just for living with a child with a disability. Everyone's life is different. Some just more so than others.

Thanks for this post. It made me think about life's challenges.
