Spark Rally 2011

~Indygirl and a team of Sparkers is putting together a spark rally in May 2011. I have been honored with getting a spot to speak at that rally. Going on a trip !!!

We leave tomorrow for a 12 day road trip. It's time to get out the pen and paper to plan my eating and exercise. I have a hard time with wanting to snack while we are riding in the car. For so many years it didn't matter that I had chips, cookies, donuts etc all along the way. It formed a habit of thinking eating and riding go together. This is a habit that is hard to break. I'm going to plan to have only the meals and snacks I would have if I were at home. I will also get some exercise when we stop for gas and will be sure to get more than usual exercise while we are at the places we are staying. I'm looking forward to a swim, a walk in the mountains and whatever else I can think of. Your ideas would be appreciated.

    I'm making my grocery list and trying NOT to put snack foods down. If I buy it, it's eaten like there's no tomorrow.

    I remember a trainer I had once who was trying to lose weight and she brought her own food, (not unheard of) but she was under the philosophy that she was "in training". (Well, she was actually for some Mrs. Muscle competition). So sometimes I try to adopt that thinking-that I'm "in training", so I can't eat junky food.

Don't even start on the chips and cookies. Once I start-it's like the floodgates are open. Remember all the hard work you've done so far and this is really about acquiring new eating habits FOR LIFE.

Also-have fun. No stressing over food. emoticon

Do you need a boost?

Good morning. Do you need a boost in your exercise program? I am leader/co-leader of three teams. I have just posted a challenge on all three teams called "Copycat challenge September 2010". If you are not already a member of one of these teams, go there now and join. I think I have found a fun way to get our exercise in September.

It's a new month, a new quarter, and a new season. Best of all it's a new day. If you have had trouble staying focused, let today be the day you take a fresh look at what you are doing.

Half way through...

We are half way through the 9 day challenge. Counting today we have five days of August left. This challenge to push ourselves with exercise has really helped me to get moving again. A lot of Sparkfriends have joined me in this fun challenge. I have been on my stationary bike, on the golf course, on a wii dance mat in the living room, and walked in the Walmart store. I look forward to the next five days to see what else I can do to burn those calories.

It's not too late to join us. If you are reading this challenge for the first time, this can be a 5 day challenge for you. Just post what you will do for the next 5 days to get some extra exercise and finish August with a bang.

    Here it is, August 31st. I have done rather well with all the maintenance we have been doing on the yard and house. Painting, trimming hedges, digging.... What a great workout and the end result of all this work is also very rewarding.

    I've made it 60 minutes of intervals on the treadmill each day (Not running but changing incline and walking speeds) Sweat city!

And I feel good when it's done each day.

But I'm not LIKING it much.... but I'm MAKING myself do it, thanks to you...maybe when I weigh, I will have blasted through that plateau I've been on, and my attitude will change... oh well, no matter

Only four more days to go after today!

    I will do the 30 min a day walk til the end of the month...getting back on track!
I can't do the power walking like I usually do, but the fact that I am getting back to moving will help...thanks for the motivation! emoticon

    I'm not able to do the 60 min per day but I would love to join the challenge with modification.
I will commit to the following for my challenge:
Stretching every day
Stationary bike or walking 15 min
Toning exercises

Let's share what our personal challenge is for this wk and how we are doing each wk. GET ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, GO!!! :D
