It's in the mind....

Sunday, August 31, 2008

I think I have figured out why I regain my weight. When I have life changes and my weight loss stalls I begin to go back to old eating habits. When this happens and a couple of pounds comes back on, my MIND thinks I have put it all back on so I give up trying. I am struggling with the life change right now. This time I am telling myself I have not regained all of my weight. I am just maintaining between 171.5 and 174. I WILL NOT go out of control. The rehab house is almost ready. This will get me back to having more time at home and I can get back on my stationary bike.

Hang in by maintaining your loss rather than trying to lose more. NOT gaining is a success!

Hang in there. You'll get back on track. Just say to yourself, I'm not going back. Take a look at the Sept calendar about the fruit and vegs. It gives alot of different ideas on how to get more of these in our diet. Just say, NO!!! when you realize stress eating.
Love ya

You have had a lot of life disruption lately, so it would be understandable if you made some poor choices - didn't you mention you didn't have a kitchen for awhile?

YOU have maintained your weight within a reasonable range! YOU have lost a ton of weight so far! It's clear how much you have done by just looking at your pictures.

You know these are speed bumps - not a road block, as I said before. You are gonna roll right over them.

You'll be OK, Julie.

The dust is going to settle. When will you get back to your familiar routine?

If you need anything, I've got your back. Spark Mail me any time!

In "Shrink Yourself" by ROGER GOULD, M.D. he says that we have to look at what we fear, when we have life changes. STRESS. He says we are good at losing weight, but it is when we get to the stress that we resort to "comfort" eating and gain the weight back.
It is GREAT that you are NOT going to do that this time. Journal and get your feeling out.
High sugar foods that are processed are much like alcohol in our bodies and give us a "quick fix." That is why he says we turn to those foods for comfort, like a drug. I don't WANT to do that to my body, so I am trying to be aware everyday. I am glad you are, too.

    You have the right mindset!

A lot of us think like that, so you're right it is all in our minds. And when we get that together we can get our bodies together as well. And that's why you must basically enforce into your mind, you don't have to wait to exercise on your bike. You can walk in the neighborhood where you live, you can do some spark exercises, stretches, yoga, jump rope all where you live. Constantly tell yourself your worth it, and that gaining 1 or 2 pounds doesn't break you. And that way you will keep pushing forward instead of giving up. It's a mental game we must play with ourselves. For example when I want to over eat, but I realize I've had all of my calories for the day. I just remind myself I only have so many hours to the next day and I can have additional food. And that way I really don't feel deprived, it's whatever works. Good luck, keep up the great work. You can do this. emoticon emoticon

Too tired to eat right. I feel in trouble.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

We have been working hard on the house we are rehabbing. On one hand, I'm getting plenty of exercise. On the other hand, I'm so tired at the end of the day I'm eating what I can get my hands on and what is convenient. I feel like I'm in trouble. I know what is happening. I just have to get it under control before I really mess up. We went to the grocery store today after working all day. I just ran through the store throwing things in the buggy. I was in a different store than I usually shop in. I couldn't find my Enviga drink. I did get my regular breakfast food. I will be ok. Just blogging has helped. I MUST plan ahead and not wait until I am so tired.

You have taken the first step by acknowledging what is happening. The next step is a plan. Maybe go to the store and get healthy foods and portion them out so you can "grab and eat." Carrots, grapes, cooked chicken breast, melons....Good luck!

Just remember to STOP emoticon eating what ever you are having when you feel full.
DON'T over eat when you are tired, even if it isn't the best food choices. emoticon

With the disruption of your life with the remodeling, it is understandable that you are off your routine. You had a great idea to plan your food ahead of shopping. It's just another thing 'to do' on your list, but it will make your life that much easier!

You haven't hid a road block, Julie - Just a speed bump - and you can roll right over that and keep on going!

Hang in there!

That happens to me more often than I like to admit.

You already have the answer -- planning. I love having leftovers (even leftover turkey burgers!) in the fridge, ready to be microwaved and eaten. Some days, that's the only thing that keeps me on track.

Good luck with planning, and with the house!

Shoveling dirt and carrying wood floor

Saturday, August 23, 2008

I worked hard today. Donald and I are working on a rehab house. I carried the wood flooring (trash) from the back patio to the trash pile by the back fence. I swept the floor and vacuumed. I scrubbed the bathtub. I helped shovel the dirt back into the holes from the foundation repair. That was really hard because the dirt was still wet from getting rained on last week. I would say I had a very good workout today.

My jean shorts don't hurt any more...

Thursday, August 21, 2008

I pulled some jean shorts out on 7/18. I got them on and zipped but when I sat down the were still too tight. I have them on now and I am fine. No more ouch. I looked back and there is only 6 pounds difference from then and now. It's hard to believe 6 pounds could make that much difference. Oh well, I'm happy with it. I am looking forward to a shopping trip soon. I should be able to get into size 14 soon. My 16s are getting baggy.

I'm registered for a 5K walk

Saturday, August 16, 2008

Woo Hoo, My family and I are registered for a 5K walk on September 27th. We did it last year when I was heavier. I did ok. I skipped one leg of that walk because I could see the finish line if I went left and I should have gone right to make the final loop. I went left. LOL I am looking forward to this year's walk. I feel so much better and I expect to finish it without any trouble. I also hope to have my weight to 165 by then. That is 9 pounds in 6 weeks. I can do it !!!
