Week 1, Day 5 Done

Thursday, August 08, 2013

I finished week 1 and though I'm a little intimidated by Week 2, I'm going to try it on Sunday. I got really bad shin splints on my right leg. I am going to go shopping this weekend to get some good running shoes to see if this helps my problem.

I am stretching before and after the run, but I'll probably incorporate a day of stretching the following day as well. Thanks girl!

You rock for doing this! I am in awe. Are you doing lots of stretching after your runs? It seems like these days lots of programs/instructors overlook stretching and to me it is imperative to do a LOT of stretching in order to alleviate pain and muscle issues. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress!

Week 1, Day 3 Done

Tuesday, August 06, 2013

Did the 3rd day of the first week of C25K. It was a little tougher today for some reason. This time my right shin was bothering me, but I powered through. Still trying to focus on my breathing so I don't feel completely winded. It was overcast and not terribly warm, but it was humid. I think I drank more water today, which seems to have helped with the headache I got the last time. Not sure if I will go on to Week 2 on Sunday or repeat. I'll see how I feel Thursday.

Woo! I did it!

Sunday, August 04, 2013

Today was my first try at running and I did it. I've never been a fan of running but was encouraged to try the C25K program. Lucky for me, my husband is joining me in this journey. We went to a park down the road, which is perfect for this and through our alternating walking/running for today for 20 minutes, and walking before and after, we reached just about 2 miles. I feel good! So two more times this week after work, which will be my real challenge since it will be much hotter later in the day and will probably be more tired after working all day. I lost 2.8 pounds this week so I hope to lose some more this week.

Good for you! I am on week 8 of my C25K plan (I started in Jan, for context) and I'm finding it so hard and so worthwhile. Good luck for the future!

And I'm back

Sunday, July 28, 2013

from Maui and had a wonderful time but since it was my honeymoon, it was pretty much, who cares what I do or eat. Now it's back to business! So this week my husband and I are doing a week cleanse. Going to try the Jillian Michael's one I've read about. We'll see how that goes! Then this coming Sunday we are going to start to try the C25K. At least it begins with alternating running and walking. That is 3 days a week and I'd also like to throw in 2 days of Chalean Extreme weight lifting or do my own.

Musings for the day

Thursday, July 11, 2013

Have you ever thought about how much energy and time we spend on worrying about people? Like what they think? What they do to others or to you? How much drama is generated by some? Why do we do that?

I try to stop the frenzy at work when people are sharing their drama, whether personal or business. I just hate drama! Shy away from it. Do anything to not be in the middle of it. I'm a good listener, and if I can help someone in need, I will do it. But it really drives me crazy when people create the drama and then can't get out of it. It's their own doing!

That's one thing I'm trying to work on. Worry. Such a drain on your life. I'm doing a better job at living my life and not caring what others think, but there are times when I still struggle.

Oh wow, I totally agree with you on this! There was always drama in the last group I worked with but now I am in a group that is too busy working to generate much drama. I am glad because I worry a lot too and I don't need their crazy stuff to add to my own worries!
