Happy National Day Kuwait

Saturday, February 25, 2012

It'sNational Day in Kuwait today. Kuwait is 51 years old. We are going to have a BBQ around the pool at the apartment where we live and hope the weather co-operates. It's overcast and there is a chance of rain today. Fingers crossed for a nice afternoon.

So when the blow torch came out...

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

We have a couple of places where the paint blistered on our walls. They got a painter to come to fix them. One spot is water seeping through, (a problem that they never revealed to us before we moved in so I'm mad at them) and a spot in the dining room. The painter came a couple of weeks ago to put some filling on the 2 spots. Today he's back. He wanted our gas cylinder, we don't have one as our stove is electric. I deduced this from the gas cylinder regulator he had in his hand. He went and got one from the handyman. He then proceeds to blowtorch the wall. Okay I've never had to fix cement block walls so the blow torch was new to me. He seems to be a nice man but doesn't speak any English. Have no idea what the heck he is doing.

If we had beer here it would be a beer day.

Wow, i've never heard of this before. I live in a concrete house (for hurricanes), and I've never had someone take a blowtorch to it. lol Hope it all works out.

Your blog made me laugh. I've lived in some dilapidated houses, but blowtorches were never required...

Beer and blowtorches, what a combination!

I need a broom or a shovel

Yesterday was dusty all day - yuck! - now everything outside is covered in dust so it's a big clean up today.

How awful, that must be hard to clean up. Never been in that kind of situation. Hope you all are able to get things cleaned up!

I remember, when I was a little girl, we lived in Libya. Every now and then we would get these sand storms and my parents would have to sweep, then wash down and squeegee our front porch to get all the sand and dust off. It was a job....we also had these garage door type shutters on our windows to keep the sand out when the wind would blow from the south!

It's always something!

4 am and already had a walk

Friday, February 17, 2012

I can't sleep so I am sparking and having coffee after a quiet small walk with Lucy Bella. The internet is working super fast right now. Don't know why I can't sleep. Oh well, it's beautiful weather outside, checked the swimming pool and found the water to be a great temperature so maybe DH and I will go for a swim before breakfast, once DH wakes up.

I'm up because the dog and the cat wanted to play. I miss living where I could get into the pool in the middle of February. Oh well, you take the good with the bad. emoticon

I always am drawn to posts that have something in them I can relate too. I hope that the inability to sleep isn't an ongoing thing.

Good for you to take a walk, you are very lucky to live somewhere warm.

Stop, take some deep breaths and think of something calm. If that doesn't work (I wish I knew). Anyway...

Hang in there. It's almost the weekend.
