Thanks for the encouragement.Wednesday, July 13, 2011Thanks for the encouragemnet guys!!! I do love to walk. I walk at least 2 miles every other day and strength train 3 times a week. My problem is that when I walk; I walk a slow to moderate rate of speed. More casual than a more faster pace to get that heart rate up. Plus I bought an expensive pair of shoes (New Balance) and by the end of the workout my feet (heels and balls of my feet) are killing me. Also I have a question: Do you eat something before you exercise or after? I heard from both camps. ![]()

I eat about an hour before I work out and I have a protein shake after. Everyone is different. You're doing great! I walk/run and I went to a running store where they watch my walk/run and them told me wich shoes worked for my specifics. Report Inappropriate Comment |

eat about 1 - 2 hours before. Get shoes corrected so your feet do not hurt is a must.

Help! I need encouragement. I am having trouble with the calories. I am paying more attention to carbs and not really watching the calories. I am staying at the same weight 162 and not making progress on get the weight off. Also I put more calories than what I am burning off. What exercises besides walking would burn the most calories. I need to burn 433 calories a day.

Be consistent! And I agree with those who have said it--track those calories, even when you don't feel like it. It makes a big difference! Report Inappropriate Comment |

A calorie is calorie no matter what form it comes in- track, track, track and the weight will start to move. As far as good exercises- find something you like and stick with it. Consistencey is a big key in getting the weight off & keeping it off. Forcing yourself to do exercises you don't like will only have you giving up on them- do what makes you feel good. For me- I LOVE jillian micahels dvd workouts (30 day shred, bfbm, yoga meltdown)- which are all considered circuit training and burn lots of calories. If you have access to a gym, there's lots of equipment there that'll work too. But, walking is an EXCELLENT form of exercise. Wishing you the very best in your journey!! Are you noticing improvements in other areas, measurements etc? I know much about carb tracking? But you do need to be careful that your body doesn't think that you are trying to starve it and is storing the calories if you are going way under on recommended calories. The ideas on higher impact workouts, and cycling are also great ideas for additional can you increase the length of time that you are working out or add some mini work outs in to get you where you want to be? For me, cycling, but the fact of the matter is, the exercise that you love and will stick with, and that's user dependent. Find the thing you derive joy from, and do it, if it doesn't feel like work because it's fun, you'll stick to it, good luck!
