Time for the Weekend

Friday, January 28, 2011

As my week winds down and I get ready for the weekend I am amazed at my endurance for sticking to my exercise and committment to go the gym. I have to say I am really enjoying it.
Do I love getting up and getting ready to go to the gym? NO... On the drive to the gym I tell myself " just do the circuit training for 45min and ride the bike for 25min. That's good enough"
So I get there and start my circuit and before you know it I'm done and 45min have passed. I then head to my bike for my "25" minutes of cycling.
I always set the time for 60 minutes but I tell myself. Just ride for 25 and you'll be good. then the 25min rolls around and I tell myself make it an even 30min it's easier to calculate the calories and mile. Then 30min comes and I tell myself "Surely you can ride for just 15more minutes. Long story short I have talked myself into riding for 60 min and after it's over i am pleased with my accomplishment for the day and I feel better about myself. Then I tell myself, "go jump in the pool and have some fun" so I head to water aerobics for another 30minutes... and that's my day at the gym... emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticonNext week won't be soo great since I have my infusion Mon and Tues and usually end up in bed for 3-5days :(

REALLY??

Thursday, January 27, 2011

Today is my weekly weigh in.
Wasn't dreading it at all.
I lost .6lbs/ one lousy half a pound for the week.
I wasn't mad or disgusted I just felt resigned. Short of sawing off an appendidge I guess some weeks that's all I get. Next week will be worse because I get my infusion and that tends to make me gain because of the volume I receive during my infusion. Plus I am usually in bed for 3-4days. So basically, that week is shot.:( God I hate to get off my schedule but have no choice as I have to have these infusions to live.
I will just keep tracking my food, drinking water and exercising.

I like the hiding it idea! You may feel better about your weight if you not watching it everyday. Try weighing in only once a week. emoticon

Boy do I understand where your coming from! I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition 10 years ago and was on prednosone & cytoxan for a year, I looked like a demented Cabbage Patch doll, I gained 80 pounds and was so huge! Maybe you could do weigh-ins once a month instead of every week? I can't do every week I get bummed out if I've been working hard and don't loose a lot. Once a month is working much better for me.

Life Happens While We're Making Plans

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

As I stated in earlier posts I had a family emergency and my workout schedule this week has been horrible. I usually work out the first of the week but this week I have only worked out one day so far. But, family comes first and also my refrigerator went out so I have been shopping for one which they delivered today. Needless to say, I missed working out this AM waiting for the new frig delivery. BUMMER by the time they moved all my furniture, took off my front door, moved rugs I saw so many dust bunnies I had no choice but to sweep, dust, vaccuum and mop in places. Cleaned the old frig, cleaned the new frig. Unloaded old frig, loaded new frig. Had to go take care of my daughter (Family emergency) Who lives about 45min from me. Then back home. All this was a day of stuff I didn't want to do but had to do. I decided... Get it all done today and tomorrow AM it's straight to the gym. That way you can still get in your 3 or 4 days of physical activity.
I think I could possibly be hooked on the gym. I don't feel good when I am not there and with my disease affecting my muscles I notice when I don't workout my muscles are stiff. So this new Lifestyle change has been good for my disease as well as helping me lose weight. Tomorrow is my weekly weigh in so hope it's a good one. emoticon

I would definitely count today as a work-out and log those minutes in. You just burned a lot of calories today my friend!

Sounds to me like you worked out today.

You:
swept, dusted, vaccuumed, mopped, cleaned the old frig, cleaned the new frig, unloaded old frig, loaded new frig.

If that's not a work-out, what is?!

What A Feeling

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Today I got back to the gym. My schedule got changed due to family emergency on Monday. I wasn't excited about going back to the gym but not dreading it either.
I got there and did my 45min circuit training and then climbed on the bike.
By then a couple of friends had caught up with me and they climbed on the bikes beside me. We talked, laughed and peddaled hard. Before I knew it my time was over. Wish everyday at the gym felt that easy and fun.

Does Shopping count as walking

Monday, January 24, 2011

Today I went shopping for a new refrigerator and a car. I shopped for about 5 hours walking through stores, warehouses and car lots. Does that count as walking exercise?
Kept track of my food and managed to eat out and stay within the caloric limits.
A great beginning to a new week and new challenges and new goals.

It counts for me. I always wear a pedometer and make sure I capture all my steps. A walk is a walk in my book.

  I think it should count.
I counted my walking I did at work. I am an ER nurse and am constantly walking all day long - sometimes for 12 hours. I usually only count 1/4 to 1/2 of the hours for the time (depending on how busy we are and what section I have).
