Another Wish

Friday, November 12, 2010

This is the blog I meant to write earlier this week.
I have two cats and everyone knows that you can own a dog, but not a cat. My cats are cats I would like to be if I could be a cat. They have no worries. They don't care what they weigh. They don't care if they have the same thing for dinner every night. They just want the basics: food, love, warmth, attention, care, water, a place to sleep. When you think about it, isn't that what we all want? A place where we can count on for food, love, warmth, attention, care, water, and a place to sleep. I would love to be my cat. I love to be me. That is a new feeling. Be what you want to be. You can be whatever you want!

cats are great creatures. they eat when they want, sleep when they are tired, get attention when they want it, play when they feel like it and do only what they feel like. We humans would do well to take a few lessons from them! good blog!
hugs,
Sarah

I Wish

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

I wish I had a magic wand and could solve all the world's problems - hunger, homelessness, illness, energy needs, disabilities. I don't so I will just do what I can.
It is a scary world we are living in today. I saw on the news that they want to raise the age of retirement up to 69, get rid of the deduction of mortgage interest (the only deduction I have left), change Social Security, Medicare, and basically get rid of the middle class. I am afraid of what the next year will bring.
Wow, don't know where all that came from. I started going one way and ended up somewhere else. I started wanting to change the world and ended up being scared, all in three sentences. I feel that I am changing the world, one child at a time. Is that enough?
Will there be a free America for my granddaughter to grow up in?
I will be meeting with my financial adviser over Thanksgiving break and most likely hear how much investments have lost over the last year. I hope the politians have some real answers to the problems.
I don't know where this is coming from. I guess I need to get it out or it wouldn't be coming from my head to my blog. Is anyone out there listening? Not my friends here but my elected officials. The powers that can do something to save this country.
Sorry to be down today. All I can say is it must be important in my head. Thanks for listening.

We teach our children cooperation, coordination, communication, and kindness. What happened to all of that as everyone got older. It's very sad.

Sweetie, you are not alone!!! I wonder alot what our country is coming to! What our future and our children and grandchildren's future may hold. It looks pretty bleak from where I stand, but pray God continues to hold us in His hand and protects us from what looks to my eyes as a really scary place.
Just gotta hold on to our faith in Him.

I have a meeting coming up soon to check on retirement. (I just can't see myself still teaching preschoolers with special needs when I am 69. They already call me grandma by mistake sometimes.) Hang in there. We can make a difference and be sure that the right people hear our concerns.

When I start feeling scared like you are right now I put my faith and future into Gods hands and know that he is watching over me and taking care of all my needs.
I feel safe in Gods hands.
It's good that you wrote it out. Now that its off your chest you might feel better.
Hugs my friend.

Counting My Blessings

Tuesday, November 09, 2010

I have read many blogs today about negativity, either others or their own. I want to be positive so I want to see how many positive things in my life there are as of today.

3. I have supportive parents of my students
4. I have supportive administration
5. I like my co-workers
6. I have good benefits at work
7. I have a roof over my head
8. I have a husband who loves me
9. I have three children who are working hard
10. I have two amazing sons in law
11. I have a beautiful granddaughter
12. My husband has a good job

14. I am stronger now than I was this time last year
15. I am a non smoker (after 18 months I feel I can say that)
16. I have friends

I could most likely list more. Understand I am not bragging, just reminding myself that I have more to be positive about than to complain about. Hope you do too.

I just think it's great that you love your hair! As I get older and my hair gets finer and harder to style, it's become something I do battle with. I'm hoping to get slender enough to look okay in a pixie cut and just forget the whole thing.

No Excuses November.....My Confession

Monday, November 08, 2010

Somehow, over the weekend I had four pounds sneak up on me and stick around my middle! Terrible pounds! Horrible pounds! How did they get there? I ate too much, that's how!
My mantra this month is No Excuses, so no excuses. I ate too much when we went out and probably didn't estimate portions the correct amounts. I didn't exercise Sunday when I knew I should have. I drank diet coke all day yesterday, sodium city!
So today I paid for it. Blood sugars were higher than they have been. I have been having cravings and wanting to binge eat.
It turns around right now. Breakfast was Multigrain Cheerios with half a cup of skim milk. Lunch was tuna casserole (not the best choice). Dinner was three ounces of lean beef, 2 slices of reduced white bread (whole grain), green beans so I am ready for Body Pump. I will do my heavier weights tonight. My snack will be a piece of fruit.
I can't wait to turn it around tomorrow. I won't wait to get back on track tomorrow. I get back on right now at 5:50 PM Monday night. I will track everything I eat, I will move more during the day tomorrow.
End of Confession

I also believe that a lot of that 4 lbs. is water. We'll see what weigh-in Wednesday brings tomorrow, since that's the one that really counts. And good for you for not waiting for a fresh new start the next day. There's a lot of damage that can be done on a day when you decide "Oh well, I already blew it, so I might as well eat what I want and start fresh tomorrow." Glad you didn't fall into that pattern of flawed thinking. Good for you! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I think you'd have to overeat an awful lot to actually gain four pounds in a weekend. It's got to be mostly water.
