Starting over

Wednesday, August 04, 2010

No not my diet plan, or any thing here. I am going back to the drawing board on the set up of my class room. After three days, I am going to have to rethink my class procedures. I guess it is better now than a few weeks from now. I am going back to basics in my room and getting lots of input from the OT who has worked with my students before. They are new to me so I will take any help I can get. I am going i early tomorrow to set up the room differently. Wish me luck. I need it after today. emoticon

You can do this! You'll be a creating better environment that will create a better more relaxed environment for your students to thrive in. We have to re-arrange classrooms all the time when we get new children with special needs. I've been working in child care administration for 18 years. Your OT probably has some great ideas. Along with your great ideas? It'll be great!

You'll get through this.

Oh dear, I am sorry that your day didn't go well. Hopefully you will be able to get your room set up to accommodate all the children better. It is good that you had some input from the OT. Get some rest and I'm sure you will do great tomorrow.

Sounds like a challenge, but you sure have a great attitude about it. Keep working at it and you will get there. As you say, it is much better to rethink and change your class procedures now in order to get things set than to pay for it all year. Good luck and I am sure you will figure it out!

Second Day

Tuesday, August 03, 2010

The second day went smoother than the first, which is to be expected. I had parents tell me that their child told them that school was fun! Yeah me! Still have some things to straighten out of the day's schedule, but it will get done. After all it is only day two. I can't except things to be perfect right off the bat.
I did cook dinner and went to the gym. I am tired and I feel good. I hope all you teachers out there are still on vacation.

It is so great when you hear that kids think school is fun!
I have 2 weeks before my students arrive. Next week will be time to hire a new aide and the following week will be full of meetings. Then the real fun starts! I am actually getting excited (even though I have more projects to finish at home).

I still have a few weeks to go before I start teaching again. I am hoping this year is a much better year than last year. I had a terrible class UGH!!! If it isn't then maybe it is time to move to another school or look for another opportunity. I am happy that your second and first days went well. It sounds like it will be a good opportunity to grow for you. Best wishes!

First Day of School

Monday, August 02, 2010

Today was my first day of school in my new school. I am thankful that I had lots of support from other staff members. It is different, but I liked it. I will be challenged this year and I think I need to be. I have been doing the same thing for the past five years. It worked and so I stuck with it. This year's class is different and will help me grow in my own knowledge. I will be trying a few new things tomorrow. I will say that I am tired tonight.
The best thing of the day was to come home and while cooking dinner, I got onto my email which was full of messages from Sparkpeople friends and found that I have been made a movtovator! This was the thrill of my week. I never thought that would happen. I enjoy being here and helping people. Thank you all.

How exciting, but I understand the hint of hmmm, maybe apprehension. Did you change grades, did you change any text book series? Have you changed schools before? Was it your choice or a district re-assignment? Rhetorical questions all. But all of these situations will affect your thinking. I go back next week to new students, with new needs. Huge change for me. Just found out I got my aide back. Yippee. We work so well together. I have a severe & profound needs classroom, but I work hand in hand with our regular ed teachers. I will try to stop back and see how you are doing.
