Well, I Did It!

What did I do? Well, I will tell you. In the last two weeks, I got through a graduation, a tree falling on my car during a thunderstorm while babysitting for my granddaughter, birthday parties for my 2-year-old granddaughter, a 40th birthday for my son-in-law, a "cousins" reunion on my
husband's side and a christening. Then there is one more thing to go--I am giving my husband a birthday party for one of those "significant number birthdays" next Sunday. I will not pretend that I got through all that anywhere close to perfect. But I did do better than I would have prior to being associated with this site. I think SparkPeople is a really great place, and I am glad that I found it quite by accident 3 years ago. I get motivation, inspiration and oh yes! Spark Points! For anyone new stay close, listen even closer and soon you will be happily and productively involved in SparkPeople. Trust me.

  Wow. Sounds like you've had a lot going on lately. I hope no one was injured when the tree fell on your car. You don't have to be perfect, you just have to get through it. Good luck with your husband's party. I hope you're able to rest a little afterwards!

Today for only the second time I got all four categories--Calories, Fat, Carbs and Protein on target. I wondered why I could not get it right before. All the calorie counting, choosing the right foods, etc. I felt like somewhat like a failure. Then it occurred to me that I had been making progress all along--those baby step--that lead to greater and greater success. I also know I am now in the world of real people, not perfect ones. emoticon

    i do the first few meals by just choosing wisely; the last meal of the day i reason out backwards to get it to be what i need and then i eat it.

Hi. I am new and would like to hear from others. Would welcome particularly ways to keep calories down (who wouldn't) ? Also have a particular problem getting up and eating at night. I have, however, made some progress there. I live on the North Shore of Long Island. emoticon

    Welcome to SP. There are plenty of tools here to help you. I still find it all a little overwhelming. I've been here two weeks and am still learning what all is here. Ask questions, search around and I'm sure you're find what you're looking for. Enjoy yourself here. The people are friendly and more than willing to help you out. emoticon
