Silly Fortune Cookie sayings from MahJong game...

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Gave up "Bejeweled Blitz 2" off my iPhone for the run-up to Passover (not quite Lent but 40 days is 40 days whatever you believe!)... but then played a MahJong game, and discovered that it was spitting off funny, snarky, irreverent, or sometimes just strange "Fortune Cookie" type sayings after each game was completed. Here are a few of them that I was able to save, for your enjoyment:

"Clear, specific fortunes are better than vagueness, we suppose. Whatever."

"The future isn't what it used to be."

"Time flies when you don't know what you're doing." (that one is scarily true!!)

"A problem will present itself to your solution."

"If you can't convince them, confuse them."

"A closed mouth gathers no feet." (very true!!!)

"The fortune you seek is in another cookie."

"Plan to be spontaneous tomorrow"

"Never take advice from a fortune cookie."

"Everything in moderation, including moderation."

"An empty stomach is a poor adviser."

That's all for now, folks.

My all time favorite fortune from a fortune cookie was "Buy the Red Car."

Out of the blue. Just like that.

Man sheds 70 pounds walking in the yard

Tuesday, February 05, 2013

Read an inspiring story of a man named Dave Palmer, in the newspaper today, so I'm sharing it with all of you!! Dave has Downs syndrome. He's literally taken steps - many of them - to help improve his weight and heart health!!

I don't know if this man can be made an honorary member of SparkPeople in absentia, but maybe someone in Allentown, PA is a member here and can invite him!! Then we can shower him with SparkGoodies!! I found this particularly encouraging as one of my cousins had a son with Downs and he died at a young age - he would be about

Oh here's a link from the hometown paper, I guess -

Way to go, Dave Palmer!!

This is a wonderful story Julia. Especially heart warming to me as I have a 40 year old daughter who has Down Syndrome and she is overweight. Heart problems run in my entire family, so her weight is of concern.
Many hugs to Dave Palmer!

Stupor Bowl 2013

Monday, February 04, 2013

While TV analysts are busy psychoanalyzing the Supor Bowl and the impact of the power failure causing lights to go out, I thought I'd comment favorably on the things I did NOT eat...

I did not have any soda pop.
I did not have any hot dogs.
I did not have white hot dog buns.
I did not have a second bowl of chili.
I did mkt have a second bowl of "Pimped up Mac n Cheese" (my own creation and I can't tell you exactly what I did, other than add five or six other types of cheeses to two boxes of Kraft Mac n Cheese...).
I didn't have that piece of cherry cobbler (it's in a to-go bowl for "maņana".)

I did not take bowls of chips & dip (crisps for those outside of USA?) into the other room to munch on while waiting patiently for the commercials.

Becsuse I didn't want to get my fingers greasy and that would make my pen and paper greasy.

I was noting the commercials to indicate which were open csptioned, which were closed captioned, which were not captioned, and which were "equal access" (kind of a fine line...).

Okay we are home now. I gotta text my mom and let her know we are home now.

Not during the Super Bowl, but during a Pats' regular season game, I got the munchies. I ate 4 pounds of fruit. Expensive, but within calories (actually, points in those days) allowance. emoticon

Congratulations, Julia! That sounds awesome! I didn't drink soda either. I did overindulge however.

What is the difference between things that are open captioned and closed captioned?
I never realized there were two types before.

Stupor Bowl! BWAHAHAHAHA That's what I called it as well! I am not such a huge fan of football anyway, but I do love the commercials. Not so enthralled by the 1/2 time show (someone tweeted that maybe next year they should have the Muppets on Ice for entertainment! LOL )

Good for you that you were successful while still being able to socialize and enjoy. I just kept sparking while watching the game, and drank my sparky water. Did have a veggie and fruit platter mixed in amongst the "junk" everyone else wanted. But, surprisingly, I felt no temptation to eat what I shouldn't for me. Yeah!

HUGS and good Monday to you, sweetie.

I didn't watch the super bowl this year, so I was lucky to not have any temptations. I made a buffalo chicken casserole, though, so I wouldn't miss out on the flavors of the game!

40% off - "Gold Box Deal of the Day: Up to 40% Off 90-Day Workout Essentials"

Thursday, January 31, 2013

I don't know if everyone who gets on gets to see the same Gold Box Deals, or if each Gold Box Deal is unique to the person who is looking at this page - but today I get this notice "Gold Box Deal of the Day: Up to 40% Off 90-Day Workout Essentials"

anyway it's today only 1-31-2013 "while supplies last" and I'm casually assuming that's CST so midnight tonight in Kansas. But your time zone might have a better deal. Or not.

I just thought I'd throw this notice out there, in case someone wants to pimp up their home gym but needs an extra yank on their wallet with this big 40% off crowbar....

I'm not up for the backstory and drama.

Gonna be in crash course mode learning about Schizophrenia.

Drove 400+ miles yesterday from Abilene, TX back to Kansas.

(cue up Dorothy: "There's no place like home..." (3x) yada yada...)

I'm soooo tired.

Two easy reads that might help immensely are Diagnosis: Schizophrenia and Getting Your Life Back Together When You Have Schizophrenia. While they are both written as a introductory guide to patients, I feel both are invaluable as quick and dirty guides to the condition for people that might be related or just have questions as well

Oy - good luck! Adult on-set is different than childhood, so make sure the info you read specifies which one they're talking about.
