I went for a walk this morning BEFORE getting on SparkPeople. I have this "loop" (we don't have rectangular "blocks" like parts of Wichita does. I think the planner here platted the roads out by knocking a bowl of cooked spaghetti onto the floor and where the spaghetti landed, that's how he platted the roads. It's very strange, to me, but then again, not much different than some of the curvy roads like outside Atlanta or in the Ozarks etc. Just that I'm used to the 8 blocks n/s and 16 blocks e/w to the mile "format" done in most of the Wichita area.). So anyway, this one loop I recently discovered, is just over a mile (it's saved under "anonymous". Pretty well blows my cover, eh?).
Well...the Prairie Fire Marathon and 4 or 5 smaller races, coming up October 9th, will also include a 5K run/walk. 5K is roughly 3.1 miles - and I can easily walk that, no problem. Running, eh I'm not going to be ready, I'm fairly certain, although I might be able to pull off a fast runnish-waddle during part of it, to bring my time in better. I've walked/run this route before, using the MPH setting on my iMapMyWalk app, but today I turned on the KM setting and sure enough, it was just over 5 km. But...I hadn't walked in several days and hadn't eaten right and today my time was really bad, just over 59 minutes but less than 30 seconds (and there is no way to post HH:MM: and :SS on the SparkPeople Fitness Tracker. (***SIGH***)
So I rounded it down to 59 instead of up to 60 minutes. I didn't check it both ways to see which would favor me on the total calories burned. I figure it's a wash - I either burned more calories because I walked "faster" or I burned more calories because I walked "longer".
Now I feel sleepy...is it because I'm truly tired? or is it because I really need to eat something as I only had an apple for breakfast and 2 or 3 pieces of dark chocolate haystack blobs from the Nifty Nut House (you who are from Wichita, you can laugh with great understanding... assuming that you even KNOW about "The Nifty Nut House".).
(humming "They're coming to take me away, hee hee, haa haa, ho ho, hoo hoo.... the men in white..." etc however the rest of that song goes...).
Think I'll take a leeettle bitty nap....
