Day 18 of 28 Day Bootcamp!

Sunday, March 03, 2013

I did my SP core workout. My bonus was the low impact cardio workout. My daughter and I did 50 flights of stairs. So, I got my Fitbit badge! The grandkids came by and we played in the garden. It was beautiful here today.

Now, I'm wrapping up the rest of the laundry. The weekend flies by so fast!

Day 17 of 28 Day Bootcamp!

Saturday, March 02, 2013

I completed the SP arm workout. The bonus was SP New You Kickboxing workout. I really enjoyed it. My grandkids came over as I was just finishing up with stretches. They are 2 & 5 and were thrilled to join Grandma. I'm really blessed. Later, I went for a hour walk with my husband.

I can tell you have been praying! I received notification in the mail they are keeping me at my job with no demotion due to my seniority. I survived this wave! Not even 5 minutes after I get off the phone giving my mom the news, does she call me back stating the hospital is releasing Alvin. However, when she got there to pick him up she found out he was being released to a convelscent home due to the fact he lives alone and he can't get out of a chair by himself yet. The doctors will be following up with him. Also, his Physical Therapist shared that she had a stroke in the past and you can get better through a lot of hard work. Alvin is used to hard work. He learned to walk on his own as a child with polio.

Thank you again for all your prayers and encouraging words! Words cannot express how grateful I am for my SP family! emoticon

OMG! Yay! and Yay! Such good news. Alvin might do well to get a lift chair. My mom had one and it was really helpful to her. It might make a difference in him getting to come home. The other two things that were helpful for her was the surround for the toilet so she could push up and a raised toilet seat. Hope Alvin recovers quickly! Keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouragement! Spark on! emoticon emoticon

Hurray! I am so pleased you escaped the cuts. Good things come to good people! It is better Alvin is someplace where they can monitor and watch out for him. I am glad things are looking up for you! emoticon emoticon

Congratulations on your streak with boot camp and thankful your job is intact. Sounds like Alvin will be getting the help he needs...the first hip surgery that my mother had we were never appraised of what was available for her and she could not even get out of bed by herself...I got her up and in a wheelchair to sit at the table for two hours so that she could let a sitter in at 8am to stay with her til I got home from work...and she had to pay for the sitter out of her own pocket...after the second surgery we were told that she could go to a convalescent center for at least a month...which helped emensely. She did not like being away from home but realized that I could not be up with her every 30 minutes through the night and drive to work safely. She did well, is back home and very independent...even driving now.
The biggest hurdle for the elderly is the fear that once they are in a nursing home that they will never go home. Perserverance goes a long way.

Day 16 of 28 Day Bootcamp!

Friday, March 01, 2013

SP lower body workout completed. Bonus was the 10 minute kickboxing. I got in 5 miles yesterday and hope to get it in today.

Alvin took a turn for the worse. The left side of his face is drooping and he's having a hard time with his speech and feeding himself. He was up walking yesterday so it was hard to get that news. He is so frustrated. He's in good hands at the hospital. He wants to go home. They have a tracker on his behind that alerts them if he tries to get out of bed. Yesterday he was asking to see my grandson. Today he didn't want company except for my mom. She told him we will be there next weekend for his birthday.

What a week. I should get notice if they are going to lay me off, demote, or keep me where I'm at anytime. It may turn out to be perfect timing where I can spend more time with family until I figure out my next job. I keep praying about it. I have peace until the bills come in! emoticon It always turns out.

I love you guys! Take care & God Bless.

Day 15 of 28 Day Bootcamp!

Thursday, February 28, 2013

I finished SP cardio bootcamp workout. It still kicks my butt. Especially the jumping jacks and burpees. My body just doesn't want to cooperate. I'm up 1/2 lb in weight. Although I've lost 2 1/2 inches on my hips since I last measured.

Thank you for praying foe Alvin. He's a father figure to me and a wonderful support for my mother. His cancer is on his hand. According to my mom, it's been there for a couple of years. He is afraid of the doctors since he had to see them often as a child for polio & it wasn't a pleasant memory. A stroke is what landed him in the hospital. The doctor said it's his 2nd. He didn't know he had the previous stroke. Now he is cooperating with the doctors. He will be released next week with a ton of appts to see the specialists to follow-up with his diagnosis. We are making arrangements to visit him just in time to celebrate his birthday.

I was glad to hear that Alvin is now listening to the doctors and taking care of himself. I am sure you helped with that! Your mom and he are lucky to have you in their emoticon life.

Day 14 of 28 Day Bootcamp

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

I did the SP core workout. My bonus was the SP 18 minute cardio sculpt workout. It kicked my butt.

I'll wrap up the cardio with at least 5 miles of walk/jog depending how I feel.

I'm struggling today. Alvin has cancer and they just finished taking blood, Cat scan & MRI. My mom hasn't slept at all which she is in frail health as it is. I know it's in God's hands. So many of my friends are dying of cancer. Young and old. I hate that disease.

I'm going for a run. It helps with the stress.

Take care of yourselves. Treat every moment as a gift.
