Back at it!

Saturday, September 01, 2012

SO much has happened since I last updated. Mainly, I've been on MFP 'cause the food tracker is SO much better than SP's. In the months I was "missing", I've finished several 5ks & gotten my friend walking with me. I bought a bike & am loving using it, as I'm still battling plantar fasciitis. (UGH!)

Right now, I'm recovering from abdominal surgery, so the process is slow. However, I've worked out lightly the past couple of days & realize my body is CRAVING it. There's nothing like illness to make you appreciate your health. After my 1st surgery, I can say that I'll NEVER take my health for granted again.

It's been over a month...

Saturday, December 17, 2011

It's been over a month since I've updated this blog. I've been so defeated in my "real" life that I have had zero motivation to work out. My iron levels were dangerously low and affected my mood. However, I got back on the wagon this a.m. I just banged out 5 miles with Leslie Sansone, including jogging intervals. I'm buying a calendar today to hang up in my workout room, so I can track my workouts. I'm determined to NOT be in this place this time next year. Period. End of discussion.

Crazy Busy Week

Sunday, November 13, 2011

What a crazy busy week it was! Work is absolutely miserable, so my husband and I made a decision. March 1st is our deadline for getting me out of there. I just can't take it anymore and the stress has controlled my life for far too long. My health is more important these days.

I went to two concerts this week & had a girls night, which resulted in lots of alcohol, sadly. Well not lots, but more than I planned (my plan was zero). However, I did track each day and counted the calories. When my friend & I went to eat before the Reba show Friday, we went to a local place that had a fantastic spinach salad, designed by a local dietician. So, I can honestly say I'm making better choices. Am I perfect? Hardly, but tracking and portion control are going a long way. My scale was down 10 lbs from my initial weight a couple of weeks ago. I'll take it!

It's not about perfection, just better choices and you're doing that. Yay for 10 pounds down!! I hope the work stress goes away.

Congratulations on being down 10 pounds! That's fantastic! i really need to get back to tracking everything that goes into my mouth. I haven't been consistent with it, this last month and my scale is showing it. I hope your work stress lightens up. Stress is just awful for our bodies.

Back in the gym!

Sunday, November 06, 2011

I realized this a.m. that NOW is the perfet time to start an a.m. workout routine. I can get to the gym at 5 a.m., but my body thinks it's 6 a.m. What better way to trick myself into a new routine?!? Love this!

I went back to the gym this a.m., feet wrapped and braces on. I was able to do some light elliptical for 25 minutes before my arch start pinching. I immediately got off, stretched and spent the rest of my time doing upper body w/weights. It felt weird to only do 25 minutes of light cardio, but with the plantar fasciitis, I suppose it's better than nothing. More importantly though, it was nice to get back in the gym.

My mission for today? Find a new sports bra! The girls need a boost, according to the gym in the weightlifting area ;)

Tracking is changing my mentality!

Saturday, November 05, 2011

I've always said that tracking was too hard and not worth my time. Well, I've been faithfully tracking for a week. Have I lost weight? No. In fact, I'm up 5 pounds. I've stayed in my calorie allotment every single day, so I'm assuming it's fluid. But that 'gain' has also reminded me I can't trust the scale. I'm throwing it in the closet until I get the habits of tracking and working out re-established in my life.

Working out...that's another story. I'm suffering from plantar fasciitis and it's got me down. I thought it was better, but have been aching all morning. I wonder if I'm ever going to be back in the gym. In the meantime though, I am doing pushups and such, trying to do *something*.

In the meantime though, I'm tracking my food. I'm finding that having to put it down on paper is keeping my accountable for my choices. It makes me want to eat healthier so I can see a good report at the end of each day. I'm driving past fast food places and thinking "Ewww..." My mentality is becoming one of a healthy eater. Given my anorexic past, that's a good thing!

I agree with you tracking is my hardest part also. But it make me more accountable on my food choices. Not familiar with PF but there are chair exercises that you can do that will help you get in some exercise the exercise section has a few. or you can google chair exercises. Good look and keep tracking. emoticon

Congratulations on tracking! I've been doing some "tracker" searching myself. I know it holds the answers to what I'm doing right, and wrong. I'm sorry you have to deal with plantar fasciitis. That must be so painful. I haven't been able to wear shoes this week, do to a bad cut and a blister with it's own zip code, but I've been doing things like yoga, ab dvd's, Pilates, and using my weighted hula hoop. I hope you can find something to help you get your fitness burn and still be easier on your feet. emoticon emoticon

Good job really does help. Put the scale a's fickle.
I'm sorry about the PF. That's no fun. Keep stretching the calves and roll your feet on a tennis helps.
