Sprained ankle...

Ugh! I've been dreading this! On Tuesday night I was at Zumba burning some major calories and what happens? I land on the side of my foot and collapse with a badly sprained ankle. I've been doing so well going to the gym and exercising 4-5 times a week and now I've been told to stay off it for a week. I really hope this doesn't turn into a major setback for me.

Luckily, the swelling has gone down greatly. I'm able to walk now without crutches... yippee! I'm gonna give my ankle the rest of the weekend to rest and then try to ease back into the gym on Monday. Anyone have suggestions on things to do that won't put too much stress on it? I was thinking the elliptical shouldn't be too bad. I'll definitely avoid the treadmill for a while! It hurts just thinking about it! Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

On a happier note, tomorrow is my 1 year anniversary with my awesome husband! I'm so glad we got married last year, when it actually felt like Spring in April! Hehe! It's been a crazy year of ups and downs, but through it all, I love him more than ever! Happy Anniversary babe! Below is my favorite pic from our day!

So sorry to hear about your ankle... I just found out that I'm going in to surgery soon and I'll be out of commission for a while. I'm also very nervous about what that'll do to my exercise regime as I've been walking 5-6 days a week for the last year plus! I will be looking into all sorts of other exercises that I can do in the meantime and see what I can do to still burn those calories. If I figure something out, I'll let you know! Please do the same! :-)

  You will be fine. Just eat as you have been eating and do chair exercises. They are good calorie burners.

    So sorry to hear that you sprained your ankle. It's important to follow the Doctor's orders and don't overdue it even when it feels better. It will probably be weak for awhile and you don't want to do further damage! Take it easy!

Congratulations on your anniversary! My husband and I will be celebrating our 2nd this June. I love your picture! Glad that you are happy! emoticon

End of my 1st month...

Well, March was quite a game changer for me! I started back up on SparkPeople right at the beginning of the month and I have been diligently working out 5-6 times a week and tracking my food. Down 10 lbs for the month and I'm feeling great! I'm already noticing I have to push myself a little harder on things that I was struggling with at the beginning of the month. I did go a little crazy all of Easter weekend with food. Between Syracuse University getting into the Final Four ( emoticon Go 'Cuse!) and some Easter feasting I consumed tons of excess calories, but I got right back on track today! I've also learned it's OK to give in to some cravings every now and again and not have to feel shameful. In the past if I caved and ate a pint of ice cream, my workouts and healthy eating would go down the toilet! Now, I know that if I'm watching what I'm eating and keeping up with the exercising, I know that one weekend of excess calories won't throw me off track. I have the confidence to keep going and stay positive, despite a little setback this weekend. Total game changer.

I'm looking forward to continue to push myself, not only physically, but mentally! Since starting back up on my fitness plan, my attitude has really changed for the better, too! (With the exception of a few funky days here and there!) I really appreciate the SP support... it makes this whole process a lot easier knowing I'm not the only on going through all this! Cheers to a fabulously fit April... and GO 'Cuse!! emoticon

    Congrats to you! Yep, that's how I'm feeling with this new community (well, new to me!) and how I just get right back on track and in the long haul, I'm healthier and slimmer for it! Well done for recognizing that!

Well... I started on SparkPeople back in the fall of 2012. I was super motivated and ready for a change... then another life setback changed all of that. At the end of September, my husband lost his job. Ugh. He and I have been through the ringer with job loss in these last few years and I've gained a few extra gray hairs because of it, I'm sure. Well... depression set in big time. After me losing my teaching job, then my husband losing his, our new marriage was really strained.

So fast forward through the holidays where I surely gained all the weight back I lost in the fall and into March 2013. My husband got a new job (not a great job, but it's something) and I have been working in a relatively new job since October 2012. We are far from comfortable, but we are now getting by. We started working out together (just yesterday) and I can already see a positive change in our relationship. We are hoping to have children once our careers stabilize (and my weight). It's nice to have that extra motivation with you all the time.

So, here's to Round 2! I think we hit the worst patch we could possibly hit, so it can only get better from here, right? We just got back from the gym and I am sweating, but I couldn't wait to get this blog out of me! Now, it's shower time... I certainly earned it today! Thanks for reading!

    Congrats and picking up after from setbacks and going again! I'm sorry you and your husband have had to face joblessness early in your marriage - but hope that the lessons you learn working out together will lead to not just prosperity in the future - but the priceless kind of prosperity too - a solid relationship built on helping each other through hard seasons
