MIA

Friday, September 21, 2007

It's been a busy several weeks, and I'm just now getting around to posting on Spark again...

First the breast surgery for a lump that, thankfully, was benign. It was still cause for concern, though; and I had to devote my energies for getting past that... Had surgery two weeks ago, today, and all is well!

Now I'm busy getting ready for my walk, on October 6, for Autism Speaks. I'm so proud to be doing this for my 3 boys! Today I walked for an hour and 10 minutes, 3.7 miles; and I'm amazed. I don't know if I EVER could have done that in the past; but thanks to losing the 45+ pounds and doing regular exercise for the past several months, it was not all that difficult. I want to spend the next year getting really, really healthy; so maybe next year I can do the 3-day walk for breast cancer on behalf of my niece.

It's good to be back...

WOW! Congratulations on your diet sucess! And I am so glad that that your lump was benign. I too had a lump removed 3 years ago, it was benign, but I do remember the scare it gave me. You are doing great!

Coming out of Left Field...

Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Unfortunately, I'm having some health issues that come as a complete surprise.

I'm so thankful that I've spent the last year "getting healthy," so no matter what the outcome with this situation, I'll be ready to fight it!

Deb posted a journal starter that said something like, "if you've asked God for something, how are you prepared to work alongside Him to make it happen?" Great food for thought...

I'm ready to do all, within my physical, mental and emotional power to get and keep myself healthy and be here to help my family in any way that they need. I know that God is with me, and I ask for His wisdom and guidance in the days ahead.

His Presence, His Wisdom, His guidance! Perfect! He promises to never leave or forsake us. His wisdom, James says all we need to do is ask. And Psalm 23...my favorite! He guides in us in paths of righteousness for His Name's sake. Amen! Praying for you Donna every day.

That's a great attitude, Donna! I've always believed He doesn't give us more than we can handle. We learn a lot about ourselves in hard times.

August 22 - What situations or stressors challenge you to run to a

Wednesday, August 22, 2007

As I've told so many, my fortress (call it my sanctuary), is my sunroom off my bedroom, that I created when my mother was so ill and living with us. She and my brother, who was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, had moved in with DH and myself, into our tiny house (2 bedrooms); and it was quite a transition for all of us.

I cleared out the end of the sunroom, where I have bookshelves, sewing machine, cd storage, etc., and put in a love seat and an overstuffed chair. When I needed to "recharge my batteries" this is where I would go to talk to the Lord, study or just listen to relaxing music. Sometimes Mom would join me there, and we'd just chat.

She went to be with the Lord in 2003, but I still maintain the room; and it's where I always go to work on Bible study, to have regular prayer and read. From my seat, I can see the small magnolia tree right outside the window. It's adorned with several bird feeders, hummingbird feeders and several wind chimes, and it faces east so I can see the sun come up. It's a very special place for me.

I'm going to have to work on creating a sanctuary. Yours sound so nice and sounds like it serves it's purpose, too. I'm glad you had the chance to spend such quality time with your loved ones. I had that same opportunity last spring. The disease was not terminal and it gave such a boost to my relationships with my parent who moved in with me, my DH and family.

Take care,
Gloria

Sounds heavenly!!! I have mine outside on my deck. I purchased a large canopy this year and placed it on the deck, got a chaise lounge for mothers day and put it in. I even placed Jennie a small wading pool out there so she could play.
I love to go out there and do my pilates or just to read and relax. I spend at least 30 mins a day out there no matter what. I am that important. I love it and hate to know what will happen this winter when it is gone for the season.

Super Week!

Sunday, August 19, 2007

This past week was really a good one!

I started the 90-day Renewal study; and it has been so inspiring. The study, in itself, has not changed my eating or exercise habits; but it's caused me to think more about myself as body, soul and spirit--one entity.

There were a couple of little blips, not enough exercise for one thing; but the weather has been so terribly hot that there's just no time to get outside and do anything comfortably. Tomorrow I will go back to Curves, and at least go 2 days this week. I'm also committed to get back on my walking schedule.

All in all, it was a good week; and I'm 1 lb below my lowest weight since I started. I had crept back up by a few pounds, but I've lost that and one more.

Good for you! I'm starting my way down from a little blip myself. I've had a good week myself. I'm curious about your 90 day renewal study. Could you give me more information? How's your garden doing?

Take care,
Gloria

It's Day 1 (Again!)

Sunday, August 12, 2007

Tomorrow begins my 90-Day Renewal, and I'm really excited about the new challenge. I think we all need to change our routine, from time to time; and this came along just when I needed it.

The past two days have been wonderful. The trip to the conference was so uplifting, and I'm just really encouraged that with God's help I can get my journey moving forward once again.
