2012 Fitness Goals

Sunday, January 01, 2012

I started off this year on a high note: I ran 4 miles today! :)

I decided to write down my goals for this year so that I can remind myself of what I'm working towards.

- Run 500 miles this year.
- Run 2 half marathons.
- Travel out of state and run a race.
- Go hiking this spring/summer.
- Run a sub 30 minute 5K.
- Register for the 2013 Disney Princess Half Marathon.

What's your fitness goal?

Those are great goals, Stephanie!! And you're already off to a great start! Maybe you could print this out and hang it somewhere you can see it --- to help motivate you during the dark, cold, snowy (assuming it gets cold & snowy!) days ahead.

I need to think about some specific goals like this for myself.

Running Mojo Back

Saturday, November 12, 2011

After my groin strain injury during the Rugged Maniac 5K, I can't deny that I felt sad because I couldn't run for a month. I had to let myself heal and I'm happy I did. The downside was finding the motivation TO RUN.

This past Sunday I watched the NYC Marathon on TV and there was the motivation that I needed. I signed up for a half marathon that same day. March 18, 2012 is the day. Tuesday I went on my first run. It was a tough 2.25 miles, but I know once I get consistent with my runs it will get easier. I just came home from a 3 mile run and I feel so good :)

Now I can enjoy the rest of my Saturday. I'm supposed to head to the outlets for some shopping. I need clothes for work and new running gear.

First Half Marathon! Recap!

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

I ran my first half marathon on May 29th. There were almost 9,000 runners! It was a very, very humid day. The heat definitely affected my running, but my goal was to FINISH. I wasn't worried about my time.

Since it was hot, I made sure to stop at every single water stop. When the race got hard, I kept telling myself to enjoy the race. I will never have another first HM so I wanted to just take it all in. There were people along the route cheering us on. I saw some encouraging signs & some funny ones as well.

As I passed mile 10, I started to get emotional. 10 miles was the furthest that I had ever ran so this was a milestone for me. Then when they told us we had one more mile left, I started to tear up again. I was almost there. I had my cheering squad (aka loved ones) waiting for me at the finish line.

Once I got to the bridge where we started, the finish line seemed so far away. But, there were still people on the sidelines cheering and clapping. I kept looking around for my loved ones & then I saw them. They were screaming and clapping for me. It felt so good.

I DID IT!!!!! It took me a while, but I made sure I crossed that finish line. I didn't care if I had to crawl past it...I was going to finish.

I have a smile on my face because I notice the shirts that my Godson & nephew had on. They made shirts to support me! How cute!

Sweet medal!

My beautiful Godchildren! AJ & Gianni!

Next on the agenda is to find another race to run in :)

Well done Setphanie, that is a great achievement, I have signed up to do my first half marathon on 17th Sep, I'm very nervous I enjoy running but the longest I have ever done is about 4 miles so it will be a massive challange. You are an inspiration to me. Well done. emoticon

Back At It!

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

After realizing that my excuses not to run outside were adding up, I finally signed up for the gym!

I haven't been in the gym since June 2010. I was still working out after then, but the occurences became less and less when it became too cold out. I love running outdoors, but sometimes it's way too cold in Boston to run (personally).

By the time I signed up for the gym last night, they were about to close. I was able to run 2 miles at least. I left with a red face lol. I felt good though. I felt like I was getting back on track.

I woke up this morning at 5:30AM to workout. THIS IS HUGE FOR ME. I always struggled to wake up early to workout. It helped that my boyfriend was motivating me to get up. We headed to the gym bright & early. I ran 2 miles and did some upper body/core exercises. Oh yea, I really don't like the dreadmill :(

I have an appointment with a personal trainer next week. That will be interesting. My goals are to: tone up, prepare for half marathon & work on my core strength.

    Woohoo!!!! Welcome back :)
As difficult as it is to get up at the butt crack of dawn, aren't early morning workouts the best? I always feel so energized and happy the rest of the day. I just got back to my early morning routine recently, and it has changed everything for the better. How is your running going?
