Take Two

So I took some time off from my routine. Was it planned not exactly. Things came up and I had to put my personal training on hold. I told myself I would be fine working out on my own. At first I was doing well but... then it got boring. You know what happens next.

It's been two months since I've worked out and my old eating habits are back. I've put on 5 pounds and have since lost 3. This is one of the most frustrating parts of this journey. I knew my goals, knew what I had to do but ignored it anyway.

What was different this time was that I was aware of what I was doing. Before I would eat without thinking about it. It was just automatic to stuff my feelings back with chips and ice cream. I've recommited myself to getting back on track. I have decided that I will not let this set back deter me from my goals.

I have once again cleaned my pantry and will be back in the gym on Monday.

Size 8!

So I was in the store returning some size 16 pants and was looking for a new pair that would fit. I went to NY & Co and tried on some slacks that I need for work in a 10. They fit great but I thought I wanted to try and 8 and drumroll please.... they fit!!

I give a lot of credit to strength training because at 175 I never thought I could be in a size 8. The last time I was an 8 was fifteen years ago and I probably weighed 130. Strength training has reshaped my body in three short months.


  


Aha! Moment in Target

I was in Target browsing and decided to try on a pair of jeans. I picked up a size 12 thinking I'd just try it on. I bought a pair size 14 jeans a week ago and they fit beautifully. Well, here's the AHA moment. The size 12 fit!!! After all the complaining, sore muscles and avoiding fast food, it's starting to pay off.

I never thought I'd be so happy to wear a 12 but after wearing an 18 for almost 10 years, it's my new favorite number.

March Madness

I'm fast approaching my 60 days at the gym and I'm still going strong. I have lost another 2 pounds!! I am so excited about the next big goal for me which is a size 12!!

That milestone will also be a shopping day as I have only a few items that I am able to wear now.

I adjusted my menu once again. I am drinking two protein shakes a day along with one meal and two snacks. I was so anti-shakes before but I've come to like them. My favorite is the banana soy protein shake. I use three scoops of soy protein, one banana, 1 cup of water and 1/2 a cup of ice and blend.

I am enjoying my workouts although I am still not a fan of upper body workouts. I have spaghetti arms and hopefully that will change soon.

One month follow up

I have been working out for one month and I'm still going strong. I've had a few slip ups food wise but rather than throw in the towel, I just start over. I am down 8 pounds but more importantly I'm down 2% body fat.

I am excited and will keep going on.
