Hi short blog tonight. Have a bad headache. Think it has to do with so much stress latley. My sister had her surgery this am and there are no changes really. I am getting very discouraged about it all.

I finally made myself work out today. I went to see my sister came home, did my weight and did the gazelle. Then I had lunch. Then I walked to the hospital; to visit again and walked home again before dark.

They changed her surgery to tomorrow morning. SO will try and be up there in the am. I see no change with her and am getting worried this is just prolonging the inevitable. She just is not getting better and now they are talking about inserting a feeding tube in her stomach. I do not know if she would have wanted all of this. It is getting rough. this COPD may have done too much damage to her lung. Plus they cant seem to get the right antibiotic to get rid of all the infections

But I did take care of self today.

So sorry to hear healing is not happening as fast as everyone would like. Is she no longer improving? Glad that you are taking care of yourself and walking so that you can stay strong for her. Make sure you also get the rest you need. I have added your sister to the prayer chains of our local churches so I know that many prayers are being lifted for her. More Changes

So now they have decided to take my sister to OR tomorrow and put a trachea in because she cant have the tube down her throat for any longer or she will not ever speak. He the MD says she is improving but just very slow. It is 2 weeks now. They had to change the meds cause the infection is different than what they thought now. It is easy for the family or her. Wish I knew she was going to be ok with all of this, I did find out she was the one who OK'd the procedure in the beginning. It has caused me to do a lot of thinking too. She is only 5 years older than me.

Only time will tell at this point.

So sorry to hear all of this about your big sister but I'm so pleased you have been able to spend time with her. Can I ask what the problem was? I see you have talked previously about a lung not working and then that she okay the procedure. Was she having some type of scheduled surgery or was this out of the blue? Walking can be so good for you even though you can't probably get much other exercise done. Take some short breaks and get up and walk around the parking lot or something.. I had to stay at home today and just get things done. I have been very busy. I have kept in contact with my niece as to home my sis is doing. She is improving very slow.

It felt good to get the dishes, laundry and clean bed today.

Well here I am again in the ICU she is very slowly improving. All they will say is this will take a long time for her to get well. She does look better and her vital signs are stable. It is long and tiring to be here everyday for her. The children are worn out. I know it tires me out also.

I am trying to be positive and keep strong. But how do I go on with all this? I have to start to take care of me too. It is hard for me I am so codependent. I seem to be the type to only have my mind on one thing at a time. I am trying to get my mind around all this and try to work it all out. I am so tired when I get home after being here all day. I just want to go home and eat and rest. I am not use to this for sure.

Please keep her in mind as she cont. on this long road to recovery. I pray I can find a happy medium within all that is going on also.

I know you want to be strong for your sister, but your family comes first. Can you stay connected between visits on the phone? Does she know you're there? Does she have other friends or relatives that visit her. You need to stay healthy. Good luck. Report Inappropriate Comment
