Keeping Up with Workouts...

Monday, February 09, 2009

Yesterday I did 5 Bootcamp Videos to get caught up/keep up. I had to skip some of the lower body ones after I hurt my knee. But I didn't mark them as done, I kept track of which days needed to be "made up" later. Today I can definitely tell that I did essentially five workouts yesterday in addition to my walk. It wasn't a lot, but this isn't a time when my body is usually up for too much strenuous activity. So today I'm sore on top of the normal low back soreness, cramping, etc. I also weighed in this morning to find I hadn't lost an ounce. Maybe after this week I'll see another dip on the scale. Keep your fingers crossed for me...

Meeting "Steeler Nation" Man... Jim Wexell...

Sunday, February 08, 2009

DH and I went to Morgantown, WV today to see "Push" at the movie theater. There were a few things that I wanted to pick up at Barnes & Noble, so we stopped on the way up the hill. I walked over and picked up the new James Patterson and the new Steeler Special Edition SI and regular SI. Then I noticed that they were setting up a table for an author signing. I kind of hung around for a few minutes to see who it was going to be. There were two women in Hines Ward jerseys hanging out, but I didn't really think much of it. I realized that the women were waiting for Jim Wexell. He was going to be there to sign copies of truly whatever you wanted, but his newest book "Steeler Nation" was what he was truly there to promote. Well, I had been following stories as he traveled and intervied people for the book. I thought it was definitely worth reading, and he was somebody I wanted to meet. DH and I ended up second in line. He was fresh off the return trip from Tampa and three book signings down there. It was very interesting to hear him talk about the SB and the fans. You can see that he has a great love for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but a genuine affection for the Steeler Nation. He signed my book and we went on our way... TODAY WAS A GREAT DAY!!!

I guess the universal karma balance has been restored after yesterday! emoticon

Another day... Another drama...

Saturday, February 07, 2009

Well, I got a phone call that the keepsake (freeze-dried flower arrangement) that I had ordered for my wedding was finally finished. Mind you, my wedding was over 2 1/2 years ago... So this morning, we set off for Pittsburgh to pick it up. We made it to the shop and got everything picked up... Where I learned I still had almost a $300 balance that I didn't realize. Thank goodness I had the money. We headed out of the city (and had our first near accident of the day) and toward Canonsburg. We wanted to stop at Levin's and look at some furniture. The pieces that we wanted weren't on sale right now, so we decided to go ahead and head on to Washington and Dick's to pick up/look at Super Bowl gear. We shopped for a little bit, and then we left to go to Giant Eagle/Get Go to fill up the tank and grab a few gift cards. I had it in my mind that I wanted to eat at Outback today. I was headed in the door when I realized that I didn't have my GE card. I turned around to try to chase my husband down, and he was gone... So I started searching my pockets for my phone to have him drive back around. MY NEW BLACKBERRY STORM WAS MISSING!!! He sees me by some miracle and comes back. I tell him to call my phone and figure out where it is, and I headed into GE to pick up the cards. I return to the car with the thumbs up sign. He shakes his head yes. I get in and say where is it... He says... AT LEVIN'S! Now how the heck did that happen??? I am irritated now because of my own stupidity and now I know we don't have time to eat at Outback because I have a hair appointment this afternoon... He says he'll go back and get the phone and I can go inside and order our food. This way it will be ready when he gets back. So I head inside the restaurant, and he drives off. I wait at the hostess stand for 25 minutes without anyone coming over to speak with me!!! At 5 minutes, 10 minutes, I'm irritated, but not hostile. Well, by 25 minutes, I'm definitely hostile. A man comes over, and I immediately tell him I want to speak to a manager. He tells me that's him. I tell him that I can't believe I just waited 25 minutes without even being acknowledged. He tells me that they decided to close today for a private lunch!!! HELLO STUPID!!! Put up a sign!!! He asks if he can get me anything... But doesn't really look like he wants to. I tell him that nothing he could do at this point would make me happy... And I turn around and walk out. Mind you, I have no vehicle and have no where to go but the bench on the porch since I don't even have a phone to tell my DH where to come looking for me. I think he realized how ANGRY I was because a few minutes passed and he came out to the porch. He asked if he could throw a takeout order together for me or get me a drink. I told him no that my ride was on his way, and I didn't have time. He apologized FINALLY!!! THANK YOU!!! HELLO!!! He gave me his business card and said to ask for him the next time and he'd take care of my dinner. He then returned inside and locked the door (which I'm told is against fire code) and put up a sign that said "Closed -- Private Lunch." The rest of the day went pretty much without incident. Hair appointment went great as always... Jackie always spiffs me up! The only minor snaffu was on the way to eat when I had to scream car... CAR!!! My husband totally turned in front of a car and nearly got my side SMASHED... He said he never saw the other vehicle... Makes you wonder if he should be driving... Hmmmmmmmm.... And I live to see another day... And more likely another drama...

Keeping you in prayer just to keep you safe. I didn't hear about the car issue. Probably a good thing. I sure hope you had a good meal after everything else today.
Love and hugs,
Mom

Oh my goodness, the manager of that Outback was something else! At least he apologized but it sure took him a long time to do so.
I hope tomorrow is a better day for you. emoticon

Ski Day @ Wisp!!!

Friday, February 06, 2009

DH and I had a wonderful day skiing today. THE BOOTCAMP WORKOUTS WORKED!!! I didn't have muscle fatigue the way I usually do when we make the first trip of the year. Even DH mentioned it and said how great it was and what a difference it made. We skied for very close to four hours straight before I had to go to the bathroom. At that point, since neither of us had eaten (I know... BAD), we decided to go ahead and head home. We didn't want to push our luck and overdue it. We both had an amazing time. We tried a couple of old favorites, and I did two new black diamond runs that I had never tried before. I NEVER before have done black diamond slopes on my first ski trip of the season. Usually the blues wear my legs out and I'm just not up to it. That wasn't the case today... Boy was I proud of myself for that!!!

Ready to Bed... Ready to Ski...

Thursday, February 05, 2009

It was a nice day today... FREEZING COLD! It was 3 degrees this morning. I was able to get a fair amount accomplished at work so I did go ahead and make today my Friday. I will be hitting the slopes tomorrow. It is supposed to be in the low 30's so it should actually be nice. I'll update you all later. I might even have some pictures to post... Have a great night!
