I'm starting a streak...

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

For the second day in a row, I got up and walked 2+ miles with the dogs. We're definitely all benefiting from my "early" retirement. I'm on the road to getting healthier for me and our family... emoticon emoticon

A Change Is Going to Come...

Thursday, July 07, 2011

So the last few months have been very eventful. I've suffered some losses (though not in pounds), and dealt with a lot of craziness at home and with my body. Tomorrow marks the end of one chapter and the *hopefully* brighter beginning of another. Tomorrow is my last day at work... I can't help but think that I've made the best possible decision by leaving a job that has chipped away at my overall health and made me miserable (in some ways) in the process. Cheers to beginning the next path not taken and paving the way for a brighter and (God willing) healthier future!

Memory Paw & Puppy Paws -- Missing your forever friend?

Sunday, April 10, 2011

Spent the weekend at an AKC agility trial and met some of the BEST vendors ever!! Combination of great products and great prices. I had been trying to decide what to do with Tyler's ashes and hadn't found a permanent memorial item.

There was a woman there that created "Puppy Paws" and part of her business is "Memory Paws." Her website is www.puppypaws.com/

I think you'll be amazed at some of her work if you check it out.

When we lost our Apollo so unexpectedly, neither my husband nor I were in any condition to decide where to put him. Our daughter stepped up and ordered the "basic" wood box. The box is actually very lovely, with an etched top, and we're content to leave it that way. I did make up a "gravestone" for him, though. I went to PetSmart and made up a gold bone tag with his name, DOB and DOD, and the line "Our Beautiful Boy", and it's now glued to the box.

Richelle, thank you so much for the website... Looks very interesting so I will check it out further. This might be something you can post on the team thread...maybe under Resources for Pet Grief, Daily Chat, or give it it's own thread. Just an idea in case they miss your blog.
Love and hugs,

BTW: It's great to see you blogging again. WOOHOO!!

Pumpkin Carving Fun!

Sunday, October 31, 2010

I don't really ever remember carving a pumpkin... I remember gutting them at Girl Scouts once and cooking the seeds, and I remember drawing on them with marker with my Momma... But I don't remember the cutting so much... So, I will consider this my first experience! Since you all know I'm a Pooh Fanatic, I'll let you admire my handiwork...

Carved and...

It was hard work and not perfect, but I'm pretty happy with it!

Sorry for your loss in not getting to carve pumpkins as a child. We always did the carving freehand or drew the face with markers and then cut. You were young when we carved them the last time and I seriously took the second major cut to my right hand while carving and ended my carving career. After that you were permitted to draw whatever you wanted on the pumpkins with marker and paints. Not only that but the painted pumpkins lasted longer than the carved ones...no molding which caused problems for you when you wouldn't let me throw them away. lol Hope you were not scarred for life over this.
You have however done a great job with Pooh. He is beautiful and your handiwork is AWESOME!!!
Blessings, love and hugs,

Just remember: you only have to watch the sharp knives.

Hiking at Ohiopyle

Wednesday, September 08, 2010

Joe and I took Phoenix and Harley for a hike on Saturday, September 4, 2010. Neither of us had checked the trail maps before hand. I relied on Joe and he led us up Boughman trail. It was only after completing it that we found out (after later looking at the map that it was a 3.5 mile DIFFICULT trail through the woods... Uphill all the way. We ended up completing it in an hour. I was breathing very hard and sweating like a pig. We walked a little over two miles back down the hill/mountain on the main road and back to the car when we were done.
