Out of State Title...

Thursday, March 05, 2009

So there was a little drama with the camper today and not all of the paperwork is finished yet. We still have to do the title transfer. It's a PITA if it's an out of state title. We completed 2 out of 4 steps today... The rest are going to wait until next week... Oh well... I'll try to get some pictures up on Sunday after the wedding commitments die down...

I have lots and lots to do tomorrow for the wedding... I'll have tons to share about it soon enough!!!

Camper Tomorrow & Bachelorette Party...

Wednesday, March 04, 2009

Well, we're all ready to go pick up the camper tomorrow. I can't wait!!! I'm sure I'll have more to post about it after we get it home...

The bachelorette party was Saturday... Everyone had a good time overall though and that's what truly matters...

We had hired a van service to take us in to Pittsburgh. We left on time and anticipated getting there by 7 pm. The guy that picked us up had apparently never driven into Pittsburgh before in his life. He had an ANCIENT Magellan GPS. He didn't want to go either of the two ways that I knew to get there. Instead he drove straight toward the North Shore?!? That's what the wonderful GPS told him to do. After driving the same 14 block circle in the middle of downtown NOWHERE, I convinced him to turn around and go back to 376. From where we were, that's the closest way of the two that I knew how to get there. We got back on 376 headed toward Monroeville and headed toward Sandcastle... Amazingly, we were there in no time!!! Now the bride said that all she wanted to do was go to Dave and Buster's and to Sing Sing. I go to the hostess stand in Dave and Buster's to see how long the wait is, and I'm told... 4 HOURS!!! Someone randomly says that we should just go to Rockbottom. I ask the bride if that's what she is sure she wants to do. She is very non-committal now that the plan has gone out the window. I'm told that since we're such a special group (ie. LARGE) they'll let us have the next big table that opens. Could be 0 minutes... Could be 60 minutes... We agree that it's our best shot so we sit and wait and have a drink... We finally get to eat dinner, and we head to Sing Sing. We got to sit around 1 am. We stayed until they shut the place down at 2 am, and we headed home... At which point I realized that our driver still had no idea what he was doing!!! I figured once I got him out and up through the Fort Pitt tunnels he could get home, right?! WRONG!!! He couldn't figure out that he had to exit for 79 or that he needed to be headed south to take us home. It's hard to tell where we might have ended up if not for the GPS in my brain!

It was definitely an entertaining night...

The kicker of the whole story is that I left out the funniest part. The driver decided that when we got there, he was going to hang out with us for the evening... He ate dinner with us, went to the bar with us, hung out with us at Sing Sing... You get the idea...

For the friends who know me, this is the censored version... If you are interested in greater ramblings on the subject of where it all started to go south, let me know... emoticon

This was the funniest story ever, but of course I have heard the rated version. The greatest is the bus driver. WOOHOO!!! Maybe he didn't tell you...he also works as a security guard to large groups of women. rofl I guess that this is a case of poor planning on someone else's part does not constitute an emergency on your part or in this case on anyone's part. I am just glad that you all decided to just go with the flow...not much more you could do in Pittsburgh with a driver that didn't have a clue or a working GPS other than you. Why do you think I always take you along with me...my own GPS and it sits on the seat not the dash. lol
Love and hugs, sweetie,
Mom

Can't wait...

Camper check should be here tomorrow. I'm still exhausted today and feel like my body hasn't recovered. I visited the allergy doctor after work, and he thinks that I am definitely sick... Possibly with an infection.

Too Tired...

Monday, March 02, 2009

I'm too tired to talk about the bachelorette party tonight. It's a funny story, and it deserves my full attention so I'm going to try to talk about it tomorrow instead. I will update everyone on the camper saga and let you all know that the paperwork went through the credit union today. I can expect the check to be here in 2 days... That's in enough time to pick up the camper on schedule on Thursday afternoon! So far so good...

Camper SUCCESS!!!

Sunday, March 01, 2009

Well, at the "Expo" that wasn't... We didn't find a camper... I WAS TRICKED!!! What I was told was an "RV Expo" was really a "Hunting, Fishing, Outdoor Expo" on Saturday/Sunday. There was a camper vendor set up. The vendor was Trailer City from Fairmont, WV. The whole day was sort of comical. We show up at the "Expo" and discover that we have to pay $6 cash to get in the door. Neither of us really carry cash. I had $10 and had to dig $2 in quarters out of the bottom of my change purse. (I'm getting annoyed at this point.) We get inside, and I discover that we can't buy a f*%&*^& thing because you have to have cash for all of it. I'm not going to call my WV neighbors hillbillies (especially since my husband grew up and lived near Shinnston, WV until we got married), but REALLY PEOPLE!!! It's the 21st Century... Get a credit card machine already! I digress... I also quickly discover that the only camper vendor there is Trailer City. We make a quick walk through and go back to look at the RV's and see what the good deals are... And we're quickly directed to stop on the lot in Fairmont.

Well, with the bachelor/bachelorette parties on Saturday night and the wedding next weekend, it seemed like the time was sort of "now or never" if you catch my drift. I asked my husband what he wanted to do, and we decided that we might as well take a look and see if there was anything we were interested in on the lot. The first thing that happened was the manager raining on my parade... The max towing weight for my husbands truck is around 6800 lb. This SEVERELY limited our options. We looked at a few that the manager pointed out, and I admit that I basically felt disgusted. I couldn't find one of the bunch he showed us that was anything like what I had in mind. He ended up giving me a set of keys to basically look around on our own for a while. I think he was as frustrated by me as I was by him. I started to wander through more of the pre-owned models than the single one that he had pointed out to us that was an ultra lite... That's when I fell in love!! We found a 2005 Flagstaff that is amazing. Bright white interiors. It feels homey. It has a chair, sleeper sofa, and dinette in the main living area, a decent sized bathroom, and a nice queen sized bed. There's storage galore. It only has one slide out, but it seems roomier than some of the others with two.

All in all... Adventurous Saturday... And FINALLY SUCCESS!!!
