Big day tomorrow...

Friday, February 27, 2009

Tomorrow morning we are heading to the "Expo" to look at the new and used campers that are for sale. I am going to need lots of luck and maybe a little divine providence for this one! emoticon emoticon

My friends and I are also boarding the party bus at 5:30 to head to downtown Pitt for a bachelorette party. It is hard to believe that the wedding I set as my goal date will be here next weekend. Obviously, I haven't made it all the way to my goal, but I have made improvements in my fitness and health, so I'm on the right track... Tomorrow we'll be celebrating the SISTERHOOD!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Camper frustration... Hope on the horizon...

Thursday, February 26, 2009

Well, I think we have decided not to proceed with the purchase of the camper we had picked out. I really LOVED the stupid thing, but the guy that is selling it has not called me back. I called Friday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and I told him I had his money. He needed to get his stuff out of it anyway. He never returned my call. My husband calls him this morning from a number that is unknown to him. He answers on the first ring. He says he'll call him back. He doesn't. My husband uses a different number to call him, he picks up, and again says he'll call him back. My husband tries calling him twice more with the original number (my husband's cell), and he doesn't answer. I'm not calling him from anymore "unknown numbers" to get him to answer the phone. I don't know what his deal is, but I've decided that he's not reliable. There are plenty of others for sale... ESPECIALLY IN THIS ECONOMY! So I'm not going to fret. As a matter of fact...

This Saturday and Sunday there is a "Trailer Expo" of sorts at Mylan Park in Morgantown, WV. That's about 30 minutes from our house, so we're going to check things out and hopefully buy something. No more waiting for somebody to empty theirs out and decide to get back to me!

Keep your fingers crossed for us!!!

I am glad that you came to a "smart" decision about the camper. It was beautiful but something started getting a bit stinky about the whole deal. I know your frustration but sometimes things happen for the best...I think this is one of those times. Enjoy the Expo in Morgantown and just check things out. Have a wonderful weekend!!!

LOL You guys sound like me. Only I'm trying to sell dad's trailer. I keep calling the guy and I'm getting the same type of run around. Only I'M THE SELLER!

Coupon day...

Sunday, February 22, 2009

I kept working today on the pile of newspapers on the couch... That included going through my coupons and clipping the ones for the items that I regularly use and the items that looked interesting. I have been an AVID coupon cutter/user for at least the last year.

My mom always taught us to value our money (and her money) when we were little. I saw her cutting coupons and helped her often. I watched while she "sale shopped" to get the best deals. She somehow always knew how to stretch a buck. I think she raised both my older sister and me on $12,000 a year when I was very smile. THAT'S INSANE!!! I don't know how she did it. I have so much respect though for her persistence in the face of ALL the adversity she has faced... There's been a lot, and despite not having a lot of income at the time, financial burdens were probably not the most difficult aspect of her life sadly. The whole point is... Momma taught me lots about life and about taking care of what you have and stretching every dollar to make ends meet. My husband and I are at a point where we don't necessarily have to "stretch every dollar" exactly, but I think we still live pretty frugally. We think about big purchases before we make them, and we plan ahead.

And I cut coupons... Millions of them!!!

So for Momma... emoticon emoticon emoticon

You're the best!!!

Sweetheart, you are so very welcome as I sit here reading this with tears running down my face. I am so glad that there were "good lessons" that you remember from your younger years. It makes me feel good to know that a lot of good came from those years of your youth. Definitely save everything you can on those things you need or want...whether by cutting and using coupons or searching through the clearance racks and bins. We always did enjoy saving money...even when you were very little!!! What a beautiful tribute from a loving daughter...
Keep up the great work.
I love you!!!
May God continue to pour his blessings on you.
Love and hugs,

Getting my "clean" on...

Saturday, February 21, 2009

I decided that today was the day to get some cleaning done around the house. I got Pet Deodorizer put down on the carpet and started in on the laundry... And getting the clothes put away... You know the ones!!! I can't be the only one... I pull something out of the closet, and then I change my mind... And I throw it on the dresser... That's where the mountain begins!!! So all in all, it was a good day. I have a sense of accomplishment even if I didn't get a lot of traditional working out done.

    Good Luck with Mount Wardrobe!
Mine has become a small range that runs the length of the house...dresser...bathroom floor..."sorted" piles in front of the buffet in the kitchen...clean folded clothes on top of the chest freezer in the laundry room/pantry.
With dogs that shed even the clean piles need rewashed half the time...so when mom was down we tossed EVERYTHING not in a drawer in to garbage bags and went to the laundry mat...$30 and 5 arguments later...the laundry was put away...it's stayed that way for the most part...the freezer is starting to look like a foot hill so thanks to you I'll get on that as soon as I'm done here! Talk to you later.
