Restart

Friday, May 25, 2012

Been away over a year. Starting again. Weighed this morning. Then, I walked Emmett (our boxer) to LA Cann Gardens and back. Nice morning outside. Ate breakfast - this is one goal I really need to work on. Had a banana and a bagel with a bit of peanut butter. The only time I usually eat breakfast is when it's a full breakfast - meat, eggs, biscuits, gravy. Most workdays I skip it altogether. I plan to make a change in that habit. Going to get some bagels and fruit to keep at the office. I also have started lifting a weight behind my head to help with the flabby arms. I'm going to go look now for a new recipe to try, something healthy for dinner. Have a great day all!

A Beautiful Day!

Sunday, February 13, 2011

Today was a wonderful day. DH and I relaxed at home, did a 45 minute walk, went to the library, and it is the first day of no sugar no flour for me. I check out Dr. Gott's cookbook from the library. I know it's psychological, but I feel more energetic already. I have to thank Lisa for posting about her success with no sugar no flour as it made me think about making a change. I made a great turkey, barley and veggie soup for dinner.

Tomorrow I have my fasting bloodwork done and see the doc. Hoping for good results! I'm pretty fortunate that the only pill I take daily is my multivitamin.

Hi! Wow, you mentioned me in your blog...I'm famous! LOL!!

Hope you are doing well. I am slowly learning more people are trying the nfns way of eating. I found the success stories in Dr. Gott's book pretty motivating. I have been very faithful on this new way of eating, but it's been very easy for me since there is always something to eat so I'm never hungry. The second month into it, I started exercising and I didn't dread it. go figure! I am anxious to hear if you have similar results.

Keep up the good work and stay in touch!
Have the greatest day!!
Smiles!!

National Yoga Day Inspired Me!

Sunday, January 23, 2011

I was brave yesterday and went to the free yoga class offered by the local yoga studio as part of National Yoga Day. Wow! I am impressed!! I am not sore at all, felt more energized and it will definitely help build flexibility. I am going to join their Restorative Yoga class once a week and then work on poses with a beginner yoga DVD here at home. Going to the library later today to check out their videos.

I have always been intrigued by yoga but afraid to go to class because I'd look like a big klutz who doesn't know what she's doing. For some reason, yesterday I just had the urge to do this. Off I went by myself, something else I usually don't do but no one else was interested or available. The instructor was so encouraging. She provided lots of options for the poses t and told us to do the child's pose at any time we needed. I could do everything she showed us and she was so complimentary. "Beautiful" must be her favorite word. The breathing she had us work on was amazingly relaxing. In fact, the whole experience was quite relaxing.

I guess it just proves that trying something new can be a great experience.

New Month = New Goal

Wednesday, June 03, 2009

I realized yesterday that I had did a 2 mile walk for both days in June so decided to set a goal to keep this up for the month of June. I will walk a minimum of 2 miles every day this month! emoticon

I feel much better, both physically and emotionally, when I get in a daily walk. Plus, I tend to eat healthier when I have been exercising.

It feels like a "spark" has ignited in June and I plan to make it burn brightly. If I can meet the 30 day walking goal, I hope a good habit will be started and walking will become second nature.

Losing Weight Overnight

Friday, January 23, 2009

I had some thoughts on my 3 mile walk last evening that I'd like to share. I know, those long walks give me too much time to THINK...might wear out my poor ol' brain. emoticon

Anyway, here are my rambling thoughts. We always say we didn't put the weight on overnight, we can't expect to take it off overnight. This got me thinking about how long it has taken me each time to gain weight. The first time was during and after my pregnancy with my youngest daughter. That would be 25 years ago that I started gaining...it took me at least 5 years to gain to where I was when I started Weight Watchers the first time. I lost 62 lbs. in 7 months and reached my goal weight. So, what took me 5 years to gain, only took me 7 months to lose. Same thing when I lost weight the second time, I think it had been 10+ years since I first started Weight Watchers and had gained some of that weight back. I know I lost 30+ lbs. in just a few months time. Now, it's taken me another 10 years to gain it back, plus an extra 30 lbs. At the start of this year, I needed to lose 60 lbs. again. I'm sure not going to let it take 10 years!

When I thought on this and put in my warped perspective, it sure doesn't take as long to lose the weight as it does to put it on. Basically, in the past, I have taken the weight off overnight (less than a year) compared to the time it took me to gain it (5-10 years). For some reason, this gave me a lot of hope and inspiration. I can do this, WE CAN DO THIS!
