Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! One pound this week is do-able Carol, and I know you'll do it.
Thank you for your encouragement on my blogs. I finally realized my weight is killing me and have buckled right down to lose it.
Just now read a good blog by Chris Downie (Spark Guy) and boy oh boy, that man makes sense, he really does.

Go for it Carol, let's both commit ourselves to having really fit bodies!

A CURE FOR THE BUSY MIND

Thursday, May 29, 2014

Do you have a busy mind? You know, a mind that is always turning over a minutiae of useless information or feelings, thus interfering with the good stuff? I do - well did.

I love yoga, but one trick I learned, which you may already know about, but if you don't, is what I want to give to you today. This can be done anywhere, at any time. My favourite place to do this is when I'm in a lineup at a grocery store or anywhere where I have unwelcomed down time and my busy brain rushes in to fill the void.

So here is my cure:

Take the air in slowly. Feel it course its way up from your gut, past your chest, into your brain. Now let it swirl in and around your brain like a lazy river. Then slowly exhale and let it trickle back down from your brain, past your chest, into your gut and

Repeat until you're cured!

Have a wonderful day, and don't forget to breathe!

Hugs
Carol

Great Blog Carol, and a Great reminder too. I have a tendency to hold my breath. Who knows when I ever started that. But after reading this, I will make a daily effort to note my breathing a different times throughout the day. Thanks for posting this.

emoticon My mind is racing all the time. It's hard to have a time where I can think about absolutely nothing. And with my pain lately all I can do is slow down and breath, focusing on my breathing helps me to keep focus off the pain. When I think about the pain it tends to get worse so I try real hard. It's not easy but always doable.

emoticon emoticon for the reminder. Much needed.

Another blog that makes one think. There is a way to breathe when you want to feel invigorated. There is another one that I was taught that would help me when in labour. I'm happy I won't ever need that one again. lol There are people who tell you to hold one side of your nostril while you count. I just can't seem to get it straight. When I'm stressed, I simply remind myself to BREATHE! Now I think I'm going to practice breathing your way. Thanks for the info. HUGS

P.S. I'm always grateful to wake up in the morning and notice that I'm breathing. How about you? lol

Love the pics !! Ur food relationship you may call "ugly" at times,, but it's how we learn. when we over eat,, we feel so ugly, but well that's a "DIET" thinking hon,, we need NOT do that on SPARKS. Here it's a life style change,, for life, and not something to punish us, but rther to reward us !! These changes we all come to, such as ur 2nd pic,, is fantastic ! Great going !!

HUGS !!

Hey Carol......I too was disgusted with myself whenever I felt so out of control. I still have that occasional feeling especially if I've been to an all you can eat buffet. I need to stay away from those. However the majority of time, I indulge in the healthy foods, the colorful ones, and I eat 'clean'. That makes me feel totally 'in' control and knowledgeable about what's good for my body, and I feel very proud of myself. I shout to the world, "Hey look at me......I may not be skinny Minnie, but just look at me EAT! I know that I'm doing the right thing and you my friend are doing it TOO.

Thank you. This blog couldn't speak about me any more truly than if I'd written it myself. Both photos hit close to home for me since the salmon picture looks almost identical to my lunch yesterday, except I that I had broccoli instead of the salad. Yummy and filling, because I did not demolish it in seconds like a hog at a trough. May God bless all your efforts with abundant success.

WHAT IS THE SPICE OF LIFE?

Monday, May 26, 2014

Yup, you're right, it's VARIETY - variety of healthy foods and variety of fitness activities. This has been proven to be true through my participation in the 5% Challenges.

I used to think exercise was walking on my treadmill and pedaling my recumbent bike, but there is so much more to life, so much more fun to have. On the winter challenge I got out there and tried snowshoeing. That is hard work.

This is what I've been doing for the spring challenge:

Swimming

Taking 10 minutes out of each day just for me

Yoga

Zumba

Nordic Walking

Fun huh?

New things to try for the summer challenge are:

and

Of course there's always that whole summertime love of my life - gardening.

I'm going to be busy and I'm going to burn off another 5% emoticon

Gotta love this journey! emoticon

Variety is the key to fitness. I also love to spice things up. My problem is not taking advantage of the weather. For example, if one wants to bike, one needs to do that in May, June, Sept, Oct. If one wants to kayak, do so in July and August. I'm ususally late in the running or I wait for weekends when the right weather is during the week. I believe we need to plan our activities in the same healthy way that we plan our nutritious meals.

Keep up that 'super' attitude kiddo! You're my inspiration. HUGS (lots of 'em)

I love the yoga pose. Will you give me lessons on how to do that? I hope to be able to get to some new activities this summer, too. I'm going to need it with DH's surgery coming up at the end of June. We'll be somewhat restricted for awhile after that. Love all your pictures!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
