Clothes shopping isn't so bad after all

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Me and my husband went clothes shopping for me to get new work clothes yesterday and I was super excited that I'm now fitting into size 14 tall pants;woo hoo!I've been kinda beating myself up lately for not exercising as often as I used to since I've started working as well as eating junk food but seeing myself in smaller pants is inspiring me to keep up my healthy habits.

Back to work but exercise is M.I.A.

Friday, March 11, 2011

Although I'm happy and enjoying my my new job, I'm a little annoyed that my exercise routine has fallen by the wayside. I was trying to exercise by packing fitness DVDs and using my laptop to run them but my laptop keeps crashing (I'm gonna get a new one soon). Den is being supportive by taking me for walks on the beach prior to going to work but I miss working out everyday. I feel like even though my exercise routine has changed,I'm eating less but my weight is staying the same.Oh well, since my schedule is changing to nights next week, I'll work to figure out a way to work around it;wish me luck!

Weight loss and job news

Wednesday, February 09, 2011

Life is going well right now, my weight is down;almost down to 200 lbs! I feel that my weight loss is all due to exercising twice a day and eating healthier. In other news, although I've been out of work for seven months, I've been hired at El Camino College in Torrance working in the library and while the job is not as impressive as my previous job, I'm just happy to be working again.

I am SO excited for you. I too have recently moved, but NO job yet. I know California (where you are) and New Jersey (where I am) are both having serious budget issues when it comes to libraries, so I'm glad for you that you have found a job in your new state. Also, you have lost so much and worked so hard to get here. I'm at about the same point as you are at current weight, but I'm five and a half inches shorter, so probably could be aiming for even lower, but for right now, I'm proud to have moved goal down to healthy range instead of thinking I'd never make it that for. Realized today I'm 1/4 of the way. Read your blog after clicking on various team members, browsing thru some of the other librarians on the list. I hope you find new challenges in the job; I found moving from the Library of Congress to a public library in Pittsburgh to be a good change mentally for me and for professional growth, even though the salary was only about half for twice the hours... but I loved the work and learning new areas. Now I'm hoping for a NJ job that will give me place to contribute and to learn both.
Keep up your good work. emoticon

Learning to like being a tortoise

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

As I weighed myself this morning, I was happy to see that my weigh is down two more pounds and I now weigh 217! I was thinking of a story I heard as a little girl about the tortoise and the hare and how although the hare was racing fast, it was the tortoise who won the race in the end because he ran slow and steady. I had come to the realization that when it comes to losing weight, it is better to be a tortoise than a hare. By losing weight slowly, this increases your chances of keeping the weight off permanently. I'm enjoying the slow weight loss and can hardly wait for the day when I step on the scale and it reads 200. I just got to keep eating right, monitoring my calorie intake, and exercising and I know I'll get there soon.

Hello... I have been in search of a Spark Friend that is about my height with the same weight goals. I am 6 feet tall and currently weigh about 225.

One-derland seems like a far away place to me.

I see your goal is to be 152. Many of my family members told me that that weight goal was unrealistic for me. I wear a size 12 shoe. So the standing joke is what will I do with all these feet if I get that small.

Nonetheless, do you have a point of reference for a woman our height at that weight.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hard work pays off;finally!

Sunday, December 05, 2010

After several months of sticking to my vegan lifestyle, eating less, and exercising more, I am happy to report that I now weigh the same number that's on my driver's license: 219! Now, I'm aiming to get down to 200lbs and will then be on my way to my healthy weight of 152. Although I'm still searching for a job, it's good to know that all of my hard work is starting to have some positive progress.
