Disaster comes in sets of three

Sunday, July 25, 2010

... after my experience with my washing machine, I had to deal with a minor problem with the catflap. It was one working with a magnet ... Should keep cats without a magnet out ... Yah right!

A neightbour-cat had broken it to get in and out! Tepje (my cat) was being harrased (again) in his own home ... So I bought a very expensive cat flap that works on a chip. Got from Germany ... Wel it works and I might earn it back now a lot less food is being consumed.

This wasn't the worst ... I drove back home from a meeting when I stopped at the groceries. No problem there. When I wanted to start my car to drive home ... some problems. I drove I street and ..... dead. When I mean dead I mean realy utterly dead. The enigine had blown up!!!

So I bought a new (used) car. It will be deliverd on the 5th of august. It's a cuty LOL ... I hope I'll have some fun with it the coming years. But for now it's hell with public transport ...

I have to say, that cat has...nerves (we'll say nerves to keep it G rated) to go into another cat's home!!! Sheesh! Boundaries issues much?

Hang in there. It can only get better!

Vacation disaster

Saturday, July 10, 2010

Imagine ...

you come back from a 2 week vacation. What do you have: an enormous load of laundry. It has some priority as wearing winter clothes in 100 degrees is not a good idea!!! So you put in your first load ... the machine works, you hear all the right noises ... you get it out to dry and you notice some odeties ... the load is part dry, part very wet ... it does not smell fresh as it should.

So you put it back, start the machine again and yes ... al the right noises except .... listen again ... it sounds like the thing is turning, but does it do that really ... take a good look ... the load coes out as you put in, only part wet: .....

MY washing machine gave up on me!!!!

OK it was 19!!! years old with NO repairs ever so I knew that it was way time for retirement. But could it have happend AFTER I did my vacation laundry ...

Up to mum with the essentals ... I'm not going to get the winter stuf out

Back and feeling good!!!

Sunday, July 04, 2010

I was on vacation for two weeks. I really needed it bad ... read my last blog and you know why :( ...

I was in the Dordogne (France). I've been al over the place. 2 caves with paintings and gravures between 15.000 and 18.000 years old. They are beautiful. It's like the guides said: it's art and every stroke deliberated and considered.

We have been to 2 lovely castles who were involved in bloodshed with each other from 1100 until 1600 (part of the 100 year war and the religious war fought in France). The families choosing sides against each other time after time and sometimes getting conquered. One castle had a war museum. That was awesome. At the same time it took away the attention from the castle it self. the other was showing it's beautiful self. Nothing else needed.

There was a lovely little castle from the 15th century we saw as well. Not much bloodshed but a lot of money from paying to get by it over the river it's next to. It's gardens were great.

We also visited a fort in a cave. Very special, but the people showing it put so much showpieces in it, you couldn't get the feel nor the sight of being in a fort that's build in a cave The one thing that got stuck in my mind was the collection of torture tools ... Really gruesome !!! We also visited an other place with cave houses. It's cool ... Literally LOL

That wasn't all: the national museum of prehistory was close by. No wonder as the place has an extraordinary reputation of find from cave dwellers and there art ... It's exceptional beautiful. Also impressive is standing in a abri (natural stone shelter were the cavemen lived) that's part off the museum. You can see the valley and you hardly need any imagination seeing yourself up there looking out for a deer to hunt or a fish to catch and the veggies belonging to the meal growing at you feet ....

Of cours I spend most of the time hanging in and out of the pool with a book ... I red to much of them ...

I'm rested and ready to go back to work

CRASHED DUMMY

Monday, May 17, 2010

I hate my meds. I really hate them ... If you're wonder what kind of??? well the ones that keep mood swings at bay ... I mean the really bad ones that swing one way, last for month until they swing the other way ... Up and down up and down, except that my Ups are downs as well just highly agitated, hyper active, aggressive and on top of it unrestrained impulsive ... Any idea how much damage one can do if you get that mood...

Any smart person with just the one braincel would know: do everything including taking meds to avoid getting there. Eat well, avoid certain foods (carbs), excersice, little stress and take you meds. When inpaired because of injury at least eat well and take your meds ...

You can do it like me: throw out the meds, eat way to much carbs and work yourself in a frenzie ...

result:

a crashed dummy!

Starting over? second and third time working out since Achilles tendon ruptured

Sunday, March 21, 2010

How many times can you start over ... Probably every time you go flat on your face ...

The end of february I seemed to get a grip on my eating and it seemed I could exercise again. Well not entirely or better entirely not. Well booo hooo emoticon

Somehow the recovering of my tendon went sour. It grew stronger most defently. Sadly enough the pain grew as well. Not when I was at fysiotherapy. Everything I had to do I did without pain and it looked effortless on the outside. As soon as I came home the pain started and remained untill the day of my next treatment. I worked out painless and effortless. It even seemed as if the thing was improving. Maybe it was except I was limping the rest of the days incapable of doing anuthing on my elliptical. My therapist couldn't understand what was going on. He knows my pain reception during excercise is weird (not feeling strain or pain even when I should untill afterwards) but it didn't explain the limping and contunious pain I had the next couple of days.

Because of stress at work I wasn't eating right either. Wel you can do the math can you ... emoticon

This monday we finaly figured it out. The pain was part of strechting. The damded thing is still to short and stiff. It gets stronger, but it doesn't lengthen the way it should. It was way to stiff. So we changed routine. Last thursday I didn't do any exercise. My fysio tortured me in a compleet different way and boy did that hurt. My tendon felt like minced meat afterwards. But it's a little less short and a little less stiff. More importent I don't have a limp and I can exercise! And that is what I did yesterday and today. I was great. And there is no bad responce either. emoticon

If I can controle my food as well (I did yesterday ... and that's a start) It might go the right way

GESELE 4/18/2010 7:15AM

It was discovered that I have a boney growth on my femur that could be nothing or could be "something" as I've had it since I've been a kid, and now I'm experiencing pain that takes my breath way. There is a great chance that I'll be undergoing surgery to have it removed and will be in cast.

Do you have any insight how to keep somewhat on track and not lose muscle that I've developed and not be gain the weight I've lost?

Thanks so much

Tess it's great that you were able to figure out the problem. Tendons do need to lengthen back after an injury, so good that you caught it and can address the issue. The food we all work on day to day, but spring is coming and lots more fresh little veggies and fruits. Hang in there.
Hugs Shirley
