Yea, Galileo took a lot of crap for his actions. However, he turned out to be right, and his protesters were wrong. I feel like that some days. People tend to witch hunt me for my asthma. "Galileo Galilei was the first to observe the rings of this planet, mistaking the rings for two orbiting moons. What planet was he looking at?

Your answer: Saturn"

His initial observation stated: "I have observed the highest planet [Saturn] to be tripled-bodied. This is to say that to my very great amazement Saturn was seen to me to be not a single star, but three together, which almost touch each other".

He also identified the moons of Jupiter as the "Medici Stars", trying to suck up to his patrons... it was only later they were called the Galilean Moons...

Hmmm....Yea I heard that before, but not that Medici was the patrons. Good point. Gets the song "resting soul of Gallileo" stuck in my head.

Galileo was quite a guy!... even if he was wrong every once in a while, he was thinking!

I am NOT going to donate blood and plasma anymore. I started when I hit a bad money patch a year ago, and now I am working more hours. However, it had become a habit by that point so I kept up with it. The money is NOT worth it! Hydration is key to fitness, and a great deal of fluid comes out of your body when you donate blood. It is strange and not natural for your body to have to replace water so fast to your blood. No matter what you drink, you stay thirsty for days. I think this dehydration is blocking my fitness goals. Also, I have headaches and bad reactions, I am just not the sort of person who donates well. I wish they would warn you better about side effects when you try these things. Have other people had this problem? No pages really tell you anything online.

So I donate blood as plasma one time per week. Unfortunately, something I did not know is that you can only do this for about one year, before the veins on your arm start to collapse and hide deeper in your arm. I crap you not! I had heard this happens to junkies, which is why they end up shooting up in their legs or toes. I am not a druggie, and do not do smack. However, it can happen in hospital blood donation settings too, which I did not know. I wish someone had warned me of this when I started. Yesterday, I went to donate, and nothing would come out of my arms! They stuck me three times, and nothing would hit the tube! If this happens three times in a row, you have to be off the donate list for a year, before you can re apply. Sucks, I have gotten used to an extra $100 per month. The body has many amazing healing powers, it does not know good blood loss from bad, and stops it.

Plasma Centers aren't really known as bastions of information, unfortunately. *sigh*

That was actually what changed my mind about low carb - I'd donated pretty regularly during a really tough financial time, but decided to go back to doing Atkins...and there was so much fat in my blood it kept jamming the machine, and they couldn't do a full return - and when THAT happens it's like giving actual blood - you can't donate for a couple of months. But the whole idea that just eating a sausage for breakfast had made such a difference...it totally grossed me out to think of all that fat coursing through my veins. *shudders*
