Visionary Minds

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

I am watching Star Trek today, and doing online trivia. "7. Interestingly, a human first walked on the moon in the same year that the last episode of the original Star Trek series was aired on US television. What year was it?

Your answer: 1968

The correct answer was 1969

There are several reasons for the cancellation of the show, but I rather like this quote from George Takei, who played helm officer Hikaru Sulu ... "I will always be mindful of the fact that we celebrate the genius of the optimistic mind. We celebrate the science fiction world transformed into our very real society today by those visionary minds."

Tail Bone

Saturday, October 23, 2010

I am taking nursing classes (read 10 pages a day) and you must know a great deal of biology for this study. "The human coccyx can be compared to what in other animals?

"Your answer: tail

"Commonly known as the tail bone, the coccyx is an important site for ligaments to attach. Coccyx means cuckoo in Greek, based on the curved shape of both the bone and the cuckoo's beak. A dewclaw is the extra claw on dogs and cats that sits about the "wrist" area."

Time Warp

Friday, October 22, 2010

In honor of the Rocky Movie being shown in Austin at Alamo Drafthouse and Spiderhouse this year: "5. In what cult movie do the Transylvanians do the "Time Warp", Dr. Frank N. Furter creates a man, and Brad and Janet discover alternative lifestyles?

Your answer: The Rocky Horror Picture Show

"Rocky Horror" was released in 1975 to negative reviews, but it became popular when it started playing at midnight shows at various theaters around America (notably at the Waverly theater in New York). It is the story of a wholesome Midwestern couple that get involved with cross-dressing, cannibalism, floor shows and, of course, the Time Warp ("It's just a jump to the left...")"

I love RHPS it has been years since I have gotten dressed up and gone out to watch it, but I do watch it at home a few times a year. Despite the objections from my boyfriend, lol.

Tropical Fish: "Tropical fish aquaria, and indeed Marine fish aquaria, are very popular all over the world. Tropical fish however, are far easier to keep than Marine fish - which require a very delicate chemical balance to be maintained."

Just like us, the balance between spirit, soul which is the mind and will and emotions and the body, when we bring balance to all of these we are strong and healthy and happy and joyous and walking in peace and love.
