"Vindaloo derives from the Portuguese dish "Carne de Vinha d'Alhos", a stew of pork cooked in garlic wine. It was brought to Goa by sixteenth-century Portuguese colonists, and subsequently spiced up and re-introduced in the twentieth century to Indian restaurants throughout the UK and elsewhere." - trivia
