Am Back

Sunday, May 27, 2012

Okay, I am back after being gone a year from this page. I miss the step counter. I do it more when I am doing it online. The surgeon general wrote many books and did many studies on the value of the daily step counter. Ten thousand steps a day or more as a daily goal. I was in one of the studies in 2001, and still use one every day. Yet when I chart it online, I tend to bump it up just a little more to 12 thousand or so more times per week. So here goes, back on the chart wagon.

Next year I am only planting prickly pear and agave cactus in my porch flowerpot cooking garden. This year the global warming heat wave in Texas killed every other living thing.

So sorry about your plants - I do not have a green thumb - not even a green finger and almost everything I plant bites the dust eventually. I have even killed cactus, so far the only thing I haven't killed is the lucky bamboo that my boss gave me but it has only been six months so I am sure it will succumb eventually.

I don't get this angry at cars when I bike around... But I should.

Bikes on the roof are just funny. :-)

Cool pictures! I just spent a month in Glendale Arizona. I rode my bike to and from school every day. Great bike trails, and neat sidewalks for riding. Most of the people where quit polite (drivers) and most of the locals had their bikes hung up on their patios....said it was too hot to ride. emoticon

I've really been envying the bike riders who pass me on my walks lately, don't have a bike, but I wonder if I could ride one after 30 years!

Yea the wars pretty much ended their use. Fun to think of though. "What was the original intent for the 102nd floor of NY City's Empire State Building, which is now used for observation purposes since the original industry failed to *take off*?

Your answer: A dirigible terminal

At one time there were gangplanks attached to the top of the building for passengers to use for boarding purposes. This practical use never occurred because the commercial passenger dirigible business never succeeded and the building itself caused a local micro-climate that made mooring the vessels nearly impossible. It would have been quite a sight though." - From Funtrivia.com

Bike Parking

Saturday, August 06, 2011

I love this bike joke because it implies many things. If you look closely, it is from the Stanford Daily school. Yes, even Stanford students penny pinch by riding bikes. Yes, even they have bad days and can't remember things well. It's a small world after all.

The caption says "The seconds between when you think your bike is stolen, and when you realize you parked it somewhere else."
